Old North State Winery

Old North State Winery Carolina Harvest Wines start out as luscious winegrapes on our North Carolina family farms. We are the Old North State Winegrowers Cooperative Association, Inc. and our Old North State Winery is located in Yadkin Valley, declared an American Viticultural Area. Wine is our passion and our legacy. In 1890, our Old North State had more winegrapes than all other states combined. At the turn of the twentieth century, North Carolina wines won international awards at the World's Fair in Paris. We are back. Today, as we enter a new century, fourth generation family farm knowledge rises like the Phoenix in the form of passionate vineyard owners reclaiming their heritage. Our family farms have roots that run deep into the soil and soul and our Cooperative has pledged to put our collective North Carolina legacy into the growth of premium wines in the Yadkin Valley. Taste our wines and taste generations of richness - Carolina Harvest.

Products

  Autumn Leaf
A sweeter “chillable” version of a red wine blend, this wine is primarily Cabernet Franc and Sangiovese along with some Merlot. Impressive mid- palate and fine structure. Reminiscent of “red” fruits.
  Cabernet Franc
This motivating dry red has aromas of cranberries and carmel. Young tannins give a punch to this traditional Cabernet. Intriguing spicy licorice palate awaits you. Limited quantities.
  Chardonnay
A delicate but full-bodied dry white wine made from 100% Chardonnay grapes. Most of this wine was fermented in 60n gallon French oak barrels and then blended with a portion of Chardonnay cold fermented in stainless steel tanks. This was done to give the wine the benefit of some oak influence but not to allow the oak to overwhelm the wine. You may find aroma and flavor notes that are reminiscent of butterscotch, pear, and a touch of vanilla.
  Merlot
Fruit forward flavors of ripe black cherries, blackberry, well integrated oak, a some-what tannic offering; great with smoked meats.
  Prelude
A favorite of many red wine drinkers! Prelude is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Chambourcin with “dark” fruit aromas and flavors along with lines of black cherry or plum. Aged in 60 gallon barrels of French oak and American oak for 7 months.
  Sangiovese
This grape is most famously known as one of the Italian varieties used to make Chianti wines. This particular wine is a blended with Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Chambourcin. Look for subtle hints of cherry and bramble fruit flavors along with a raspberry finish and aftertaste.
  Spring House White
Our semi-sweet white blend of Chardonnay, Viognier and Sauvignon Blanc set the foundation for this snappy wine with gooseberry and late sweet apple aromas. Bold apricot palate and a tingly yet pleasant lingering finish.
  Starlight White
This rich in the nose, southern sweet, white wine has aromas of magnolia blossom and pineapple. With a light golden appearance and a juicy palate of honeysuckle, this wine will instantly remind you of Grandma’s backyard.
