Great wines come from many places. Our first estate vineyards were planted in early 2000 and since then, Garfield Estates Vineyard & Winery has been committed to a simple approach. Produce high quality wines using Colorado Estate grown grapes that appeal to a broad spectrum of wine lovers. This translates to growing the highest quality grapes possible using sustainable methods in the vineyard and applying passion and know how to turning those grapes into drinkable, approachable wines. Making that possible requires successful execution in all aspects of the wine making business. Good grapes come from the unique Colorado growing conditions or terroir, including close to the same degree days as Napa Valley, bright, high altitude sunny days and cool evenings. Taking solid grapes and making delicious wine also requires a capable facility, good equipment and knowledgeable wine making. Our scale offers the opportunity to hand craft each wine to insure adherence to our philosophy of high quality, approachability and broad appeal. We are a family owned and operated business that flows from a shared passion for the living thing that is wine. On August 1st, 2013 Jeff Carr passed the reigns over to the Barratt family from Texas. Allison, their eldest daughter, is the general manager and will eventually become the winemaker. Curt and Dee continue to reside in McKinney, Texas until their retirement, when they will move to the winery and help with day-to-day operations. Allison worked at a couple of wineries in Texas before moving up to Colorado.

Cabernet Franc
This Gold medal winning wine offers a bright, medium-bodied red wine with soft tannins. An approachable wine with a lingering finish, exhibiting the complexity this grape can achieve.

Estate Syrah
This wine is a worthy follow up to our Gold Medal winning 2008. Exhibiting an intense earthy, spiciness with rich concentrated fruit--a very traditional Rhône style Syrah. We use “whole berry” fermentation, which increases the varietal fruit characteristics.

Fumé Blanc
This signature wine is aged 5 months in French oak producing a rich wine with characteristic smoky notes and hints of vanilla & nutmeg. Excellent acidity & balance with notes of grapefruit and pineapple on the nose.

Malbec
Now available, our 2010 Malbec, hand picked and aged for 16 months in French oak, this wine is dense and lush on the palette with rich aromas of blueberries and violet laced in oak.

Merlot
Our 2001 Merlot is a bold, full-bodied Merlot made from outstanding fruit and aged over 18 months in oak. Flavors of blackberries and currant abound with soft tannins and excellent mouth feel. This wine is readily enjoyed today with a great steak or an entree with a robust sauce, however, it also has excellent aging potential and will become more flavorful for many years to come.

Reserve Merlot
This wine is a classic Merlot exhibiting intense complexity and dense layers of fruit with just enough oak to balance the tannins. The 2002 Reserve Merlot was destined for greatness from the beginning. The fruit was harvested October 19th, which is very late in the Grand Valley. The ideal weather allowed this additional "hang time," allowing the flavor and complexity to fully develop. The resulting wine is a powerful yet elegant wine that will age gracefully for many years.

Vin de Glace
Produced in the ice wine style and made from 100% estate grown Muscat Ottonel. A dessert wine that is delicate and aromatic with rich, fresh fruit flavors of honey melon, lemon and apple with a clean, lingering finish. A special treat!

Vin Rosé
Fans have long known about our passion for crisp, dry European style Rose and our 2010 is our best yet! Expertly crafted from drawing juice off our Syrah, Cabernet Franc, and Malbec harvest, this wine is fruit forward and complex. Aromas of cherry and strawberry on the nose with bright acidity make this the perfect summer wine! Get it while you can, it will be gone quickly.
