The story begins in 1935 or so underneath this small house on Granite Creek Road in Scotts Valley, California built by Giaccomo Thiella after he emigrated from Italy. He carved his own winemaking cellar from shale underneath this house and made zinfandel from his own small vineyard on the property. Over 75 years later, we've tried to pick-up where he left off.
We became bonded and had our first vintage in 2009.
We are a "micro - winery" trying to make a great wine.We currently make 4 -5 different varietals each year with a focus on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Our wine palette does, however, include cabernet sauvignon, dolcetto, syrah and merlot. As much as possible we source our grapes from the Santa Cruz mountains. But we are not afraid to venture in to other AVA's including Napa and Calaveras County. We age most of our wines about 18 months in French and Hungarian oak barrels before bottling.
