Chateau Bianca Winery

Chateau Bianca Winery Chateau Bianca Winery was first conceived as a family operation in the mid-1980's. As typical of most Oregon wineries, the annual production is small, but committed to high quality. Types of wines currently produced are: Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Meritage, two types of Champagne, and a hot spiced wine produced from an old family recipe. The owners, Helmut and Liselotte Wetzel operate the winery and vineyard with their two children, Andreas and Bianca. The Wetzel Family's wine roots began when Helmut's Grandfather started producing wine in the famous wine-growing region of Wurzburg, Germany. Now, four generations later, the love of winemaking continues in the United States. In the early 1970's, when the Oregon wine industry was recovering from prohibition, Helmut's desire to return to the wine industry was achieved when he and several partners purchased one of the original vineyard sites planted in the early 1900's in Forest Grove. Since that time, he has been an active participant and has watched with pleasure as the industry has grown and developed into one of the quickest-growing areas for wine grape production in the world.
