Colibri Ridge Winery and Vineyard

Colibri Ridge Winery and Vineyard "Colibri" translated to English means "Hummingbird. Like the delicate and well-balanced flight of the Colibri, our wines are both delicate and well balanced, while still maintaining their full bodied nature that is characteristic with the wines of the Sierra Nevada foothills. Colibri Ridge Winery & Vineyard is a small family owned winery located on the western slope of the Sierra Nevada Foothills in the southern part of El Dorado County . The winery & vineyard is located high on a ridge top within the "Fair Play" American Viticultural Area (AVA). The free draining de-composed granite soils and the gentle afternoon breezes, combined with the abundance of warmth from the summer sun during the day, and our cool nights produce the quality fruit that makes our delicately balanced and full-bodied wines. The winery & vineyard overlook the western foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountain range with spectacular views of the immediate area, and the Sacramento and San Joaquin valleys. Tasting is conducted within our working winery and is nestled amongst the fine French and American oak wine barrels used to store and age our wines. During the harvest season (commonalty known as the crush), which begins in early September and extends through October, you may be able to see the winemaker at work creating the wines of the future. Our secluded picnic areas are nestled amongst the mature oak trees and large granite rock outcroppings providing both the spectacular views our vineyard and the surrounding areas, and a sense of romantic privacy. We are open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. Please plan on visiting our winery on your next visit to the foothills. You wont' be disappointed.

If you are looking for an excellent Cabernet Sauvignon from the Fair Play area, you have found it here. Our Cab is a rich full bodied wine yet it has a delightfully delicate bouquet. It can be served now or saved for later allowing it to continue it's aging process. Appellation - Fair Play
  Cabernet/Syrah
A wonderful 50-50 blend that does not take on the intense varitial characteristic of either grape.
  Chardonnay
Our Chardonnay has captured the essence of the Chardonnay grape. Our Chardonnay was 100% barrel fermented in French oak barrels, and only 50 % was allowed to go through malolactic fermentation. You will experience both the flavor of the fruit and an underling taste of that buttery flavor which is characteristic of many Chardonnay wines. There is good acidity to this rich, ripe wine that will never overpower a meal. It is a well-balanced wine that has a light, fruity finish that will seduce your tongue. We know this wine will satisfy any lover of Chardonnay. Appellation - Fair Play
  El Dorado Syrah
One of the notable grapes that are grown in El Dorado County is the Syrah grape. The very essence of the fruit when it was harvested is captured in the bouquet of the wine. And if Syrah is a favorite of yours, our Syrah will be one to add to your collection. Appellation - El Dorado

This mountain grown Merlot is deep in color with delicate fruit flavors reminiscent of black cherries, currants. and blackberries. On the palate it is rich and opulent, bursting with flavors of black fruits backed by toasty vanillin oak notes and round, chewy tannins. Savor the lingering, velvet finish. Good mid weight red, to partner with any red meat, fowl, or pasta dish.
