Enoch's Stomp Vineyard & Winery

Enoch's Stomp Vineyard & Winery Enoch’s Stomp, founded by Altus Koegelenberg and Jon Kral in 2004, sits upon 90 acres of beautiful rolling hills in Harleton, East Texas. In 2003, Altus, a passionate fifth generation grape grower from South Africa moved his family to America in search of a more secure life. A fateful run in with Jon, a chemist with a romantic side and a love of nature, led to the vineyard and winery known as Enoch’s Stomp. The property sports 12 acres of grape vines including the varieties, Black Spanish (a.k.a. Lenoir), Blanc DuBois, Norton (a.k.a. Cynthiana), Villard Blanc, Champanel, and Chambourcin. These varietals, as opposed to the more common vinifera grapes (i.e. Merlot, Chardonnay), are well suited for the East Texas terroir, where variable weather patterns, heat, humidity and disease create unique challenges. Given proper treatment and meticulous maintenance, these varieties not only grow in East Texas, but thrive. In fact, cropping to prevent over production is a common necessity.

Products

  Blanc DuBois
Profile similar to Riesling. Light and fruity. Spicy apple and pear. 0% residual sugar. Dry white. Estate.
  Merlot
Merlot has been around sie the dawn of recorded history. You can bet Enoch himself stomped this grape as he tended his own vineyard over four thousand years ago. Today, the wine remains as popular as ever, being second only to Cabernet Sauvignon in consumption of red wine. It is a terrific medium bodied wine. Smooth, soft and fruity with hints of cherry, plum and vanilla.
  Norton
Enoch’s Stomp Vineyard and Winery invites you to celebrate the grape often touted as “the Cabernet of the East”, namely Norton. We present this medium bodied, dry, red wine in a fruit-forward manner, exciting your palate with ripe cherry raspberry aromas. Experience the soft tannins with a hint of spicy oak. Compliment this fine wine with beef, pork, red pasta or even barbeque. Estate Grown.
  Sweet Lenoir
Medium bodied rosé wine. Reminiscent of Sangria. Red. Estate grown.
