Altamont Winery

Altamont Winery he Mohawk and Hudson Valleys of Upstate New York are being increasingly recognized as established wine regions within the United States and North America. At the intersection of these Valleys, Altamont Vineyard and Winery sits at the crest of the Helderberg mountains. The soils and climate of this region are similar to certain wine regions in Northern France and Germany. Although the significance of wines from these regions is well known, what is not as well known is that many European vineyards were transplanted with hybrids of grapes from American rootstock. The result is that many European wines actually have some American Heritage and vice versa. At Altamont Vineyard and Winery we use this tremendous history along with current innovations in the industry to produce wines that have both complex and appealing qualities. Our winemaking facility is laid out in a series of small utilitarian rooms, comparable to the small family wineries Louis DiCrescenzo group up with in Italy.
