Alcantara Vineyard and Winery

Alcantara Vineyard and Winery Alcantara is a dream venture created by Barbara Predmore, the owner and proprietor. Barbara, and her husband, Bob, started the vineyard to provide their family and partners the opportunity to live the dream of working and developing a vineyard community and winery, making wines that are comparable to the best of California and Europe. The Alcantara Vineyard dates even before 2004, when Barbara Predmore and her husband Bob defined the Verde Valley property as the optimal location for Barbara’s dream of a world-class wine production location. Barbara had spent four years with research and diligence using the best consultants from University of Arizona and UC Davis with support from her family connection at the noted Martin-Weyrich Vineyards in Central California. Alcantara Vineyard is now a reality. Perched on 87 acres of sloping terrain at the confluence off the Verde River and Oak Creek, the 10 acres currently planted contain 9500 vines across the gently sloping shelves of limestone and rocky soil that define this portion of the snaking Verde River that bound the property on three sides. Included is a newly constructed Tuscan-style farmhouse that serves as the tasting room for hosting the many friends and guests from around the globe that visit the vineyard and tasting room.

Products

  Cabernet Sauvignon
Showcases the classic characteristics of currants, black cherries, earth and tar, and is supported by velvet tannins. Although approachable now, this Cabernet will age gracefully over the next ten years, thusly rewarding those with, as well as those without, patience.
  Chardonnay
The Wall Street Journal calls this white wine "a possible contender for a double gold medal in competition". These Chardonnay grapes come from Arizona's own Dos Cabesas vineyard. This wine has a flinty/mineral nose of green apple and pear. The mouth feel is full and round with a nice crisp acidity. A long finish with hints of butter, a Sauvignon Blanc like grassiness, marzipan and a touch of woody vanilla leave a pleasant memory on the tongue.
  Edna Valley Chardonnay
It shows rich and luscious tropical and melon fruit , spicy oak characters, and has an everlasting creamy finish that makes this wine enjoyable with shellfish and rich cream sauces - lobster bisque!
  Meritage
Ruby red full bodied wine, strong aromatics and long finish. Bordeaux style with Cab Sauvignon, Cab Franc, Merlot with touch of Malbec! Complex nose of tobacco, currant, cherry and plum.
  Merlot
Aged 14 month- partially French and American Oak barrels. Deep ruby red color with great cedar aromatics with a balance of fruit and tannins on the palate
  Petite Sirah
Nothing "Petite" about it. Seriously dark in color, with seductive ripe cherry, red plum and a hint of coconut and exotic apices soaring from the glass.
  Pinot Grigio
Well balanced, with intriguing scents of citrus zest, figs and pears, our Pinot Grigio is delicious with many kinds of antipasto (appetizers) and prime piatti (first courses.
  Syrah
A bold and dark ruby Australian style aged in American oak aromatics of sour cherry and plum fruit with a subtle vanilla berry spice and white pepper edge on the final finish.
  Viognier
Rich and comes with aromas of peaches, apricots and honeysuckle, along with a lingering spicy finish. Its bold flavors will match well with Asian, Cajun or Indian cuisine. Love it with Sushi!
  Zinfandel
