Montinore Vineyards

Montinore Vineyards Montinore is a 585 acre estate at the northern end of the Willamette Valley appellation. Actually many vineyards in one, our location offers ideal sites for each of the six varietals we grow for our still wines. We currently have 265 acres planted in Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer, Müller-Thurgau and White Riesling. We are just 30 miles west of Portland, Oregon on an east facing slope of the Coast Range foothills. Ours is an ideal location to grow high quality grapes. Our weather is like the famed Burgundy wine region of France; our vineyard elevations range from 200 to 600 feet and we enjoy Cornelius and Laurelwood soils. Here we grow all of our own grapes and hand craft still wines that are true to their varietal characteristics and styled to go with food. Our winery sits amid our vines giving our winemaker total control over our fruit from beginning to end. Daily access to the vineyard allows him to respond to changing conditions throughout the year. It also allows us to work quickly during crush; our fruit is picked and processed the same day. Most of our vines were planted from 1982 through 1985. Through intensive vineyard management and clonal selection we consistently produce the best quality fruit and wines possible. Because each block is harvested, fermented and aged separately, we can isolate the qualities each block of vines produces and weave them together at the final blend. Our winemaker, Jacques Tardy, blends what he learned growing up in the family wine business in the Burgundy region of France with his hard won experience with Oregon weather and winegrowing. He creates flavorful, full bodied, balanced wines.
