Silversmith Vineyards
|
|
We are a family winery nestled at the base of the Redwood Valley foothills in Mendocino County, California. Silversmith is named after our ancestor, Patrick Cunningham, who worked as a silversmith upon arrival in America in the 1840's. In 1873 he bought a farm in Mendocino County and became the first of five generations of our family to farm in this part of the world. Silversmith Vineyards handcrafts fine wines in very limited production. Each and every bottle reflects our commitment to the tradition of craftsmanship and quality begun by The Old Silversmith generations ago.

Goose & Toad Chardonnay
Crafted from grapes grown by our friend Greg Nelson and his family, this Chardonnay is crisp and well-balanced. The Nelson ranch is located north of Hopland where the wide valley bottoms harbor rich, loamy soils - perfect for Chardonnay.
The grapes were brought to ripeness in near perfect growing conditions. The wine was first aged in steel tanks and then for 120 days on American Oak to gently enhance the finish while not burying the fruit flavors. Goose and Toad is the perfect complement to seafood and spring's fresh vegetables. Enjoy this beautiful wine at your first spring picnic

Silversmith Petite Sirah
On June 6, 2002 we bottled only 24 cases of the inaugural vintage of our estate Petite Sirah.
This extraordinary variety is grown in the upper-most portion of our vineyard, on the thinnest soils and at a low ton per acre yield in order to maximize the intensity of flavors in this unique wine.

Silversmith Zinfandel
Our inagural vintage, this Zinfandel is crafted entirely from grapes grown on our Redwood Valley estate in beautiful Mendocino County.
1998 was a cool, late growing season. The fruit was crushed and kept on the skins for two weeks after dryness. Aged in tanks and then finished in American Oak barrels, the result is a deep and rich wine with complexity and balance.
