Hip Chicks Do Wine

Hip Chicks Do Wine In August of 2001, they opened their not so ordinary winery in a not so ordinary location. An industrial district, tucked in between Reed College, Crystal Springs Rhododendron Gardens and the Brooklyn Train Yard, is home to several artists, a micro brewery and the chicks fat, funky warehouse turned winery.

Directions
From I-5 South: take the Ross Island Bridge (99E) exit; cross the Ross Island Bridge at the east end of the bridge take the 99E exit; go south on 99E to Holgate Blvd. Exit and head east on Holgate to 26th Ave. take a right on 26th Ave., head two blocks south to Schiller, turn right; take right on 24th Ave., then left on Pardee, then right on 23rd Ave. Hip Chicks do Wine is in the warehouse on the right with the big purple doors. From I-5 North: take Exit #300B (Central Eastside) to 99E; head south to Holgate Blvd. Exit then just continue on as in the above directions.

  Bad Girl Blanc
Blondes have more fun, but at what price? Her steely exterior and full figure hid that touch of sweetness that was deep inside her. She was from the wrong side of the tracks and had a reputation of being Bad Girl Blanc. Steel Fermented Chardonnay.
  Drop Dead Red

Buzzing along with your honey bee in a lemon grove after a spring shower. Fresh, floral and zippy with a sweet whisper of honey. Enjoy this wine with your favorite fondue, picnic or pillow party.
  Pinot Gris
Juggling melons, lemons and pears (oh my!) while windsurfing the gorge with your apple blossom. Crisp and lively with fruit flying everywhere. Enjoy this breezy little number with any salmon, shellfish, or egg roll recipe.
  Pinot Noir
Camping with your cutie in the Cascades. Earthy, a touch of cedar and dried fruit with a smoky spicy finish. Enjoy this wine on an outdoor adventure, with a roaring fire or sleeping bag of your choice (oh and don’t forget your cutie).
  Reserve Pinot Noir
This exquisite barrel aged gem will seduce you like a velvet dress or a pair of fuzzy slippers. Hints of sweet gardenia and candied cherry tempt your nose, as flavors of raspberry and chocolate rush over your palate, rolling into a sensuous, earthy, white pepper finish. Enjoy this wine with stuffed mushrooms, seared salmon or cherry brownies (p.s. the fuzzy slippers are optional)
  Riesling Willamette Valley
Imagine savoring a sweet tart with a southern peach while running a three-legged race in a grapefruit grove. Sweet, fruity and tangy with a lingering finish. Enjoy this wine on a hot day, with a spicy dish of your choice
  Riot Girl Rose
Her life was one that was lived on the edge of red and white. Was Riot Girl Rosé doomed to live the blush life of picnics and pink taffeta? Her only hope of breaking free from this torried hued image was her deep ruby complexion and tantalizing strawberry aroma. But after one encounter your know she’s no ordinary blush. She is Riot Girl Rosé. 70% Zinfandel-15% Chardonnay-15% Gewurtraminer
  Shardoneaux
100% barrel aged 2000 Willamette Valley Chardonnay, but…Caution! This is not your mother’s chardonnay! Surfing on a pineapple off the coast of Florida-Tropical with hints of citrus and bright! Swirl and sip this wine with your sister, brother, or crustacean of your liking.
  Sweet Wine
A Junes bridesmaid, caught in a rain shower. A little honey, floral and sweet with a clean finish. A blend of Chardonnay, Gewurtraminer and a touch of Muscat
  Syrah
This wine reads like…”It was a dark and stormy night…”, you don’t mind as you are wrapped up in your cozy robe and cuddled up with a spicy leather bound novel by a roaring fire, sipping cocoa and indulging in a blackberry tart. Wrap all of that into this bottle and you have a thrilling, full bodied Syrah with a luscious, lingering finish. Enjoy this wine with provolone cheese, heirloom tomato soup or beef tenderloin, (p.s. It might be better with a spicy novel or a roaring fire…you decide). This is a limited edition wine, only 51 cases produced from Wetherell Vineyards in the Umpqua Valley.

Vinno-What?! Vê Nõbree is a semi-sweet, friendly “belly button” wine. You know! That kind of wine that is for any belly button or occasion. Sitting in the hot tub, on the deck, on the couch, hey you could even have this wine with food! This blend of Chardonnay and Gewürztraminer is so easy going fruity good, beware, after a few sips you may want to show off your belly button (pierced or nor)!
