Flying Dutchman Winery

In 1997 the Cutler family started the Flying Dutchman Winery at the Inn at Otter Crest. It was then Oregon’s first ‘micro-winery’ and remains the only working winery on the Oregon Coast. With the guidance of Larry Miller of Stangeland Winery, and the help of hotel guests, Richard Cutler produced his first wine that fall. Thanks to Larry and a little beginner’s luck, these first Flying Dutchman wines won bronze medals at the prestigious 1998 Oregon State Fair Wine competition. And it’s been pretty much the same since then as far as medals are concerned.

Directions
From Portland follow Interstate 5 south to exit 260A near Salem. This exit is to the Salem Parkway, which will take you through town to Highway 22 where you will see a sign ‘to the ocean beaches’. Follow Highway 22 through the countryside to Highway 18 then stay on 18 through the Coastal Mountain Range until it merges into Highway 101 just north of Lincoln City. Travel south on 101 through Lincoln City then 15 miles to Otter rock. The travel time from Portland is about 3 hours.
