Ripken Vineyards & Winery appeals to adventuresome wine drinkers with mostly non-traditional varieties producing extraordinary flavored wines. We consider ourselves an artisan "barnista" winery that is uniquely different, electric, eclectic, quirky, esoteric, even wacky, but never boring or weird. Our motto is, "No Boring Wines!" We make wines of conviction! We go down the road less traveled. We appeal to wine drinkers that wish to explore the joys of Marsanne, Roussanne, Viognier, Malbec, Petite Sirah, Carmine, Petit Verdot, Alicante Bouschet, Tempranillo, Graciano, Souzao, Touriga National, Grenace, Mourvedre, Montepulciano, Barbera, Dolcetto, or Corvina as blends or varietal wines. We produce very small lots of different wines mostly under 100 cases, using classic techniques such as gentle crushing, barrel fermenting white wines, selecting yeasts, hand punchdown, less stirring, long barrel aging, gently crushing, and bottle aging. Our chant is, "These wines were made one bucket, one barrel, one bottle at a time." Our grape growing focuses on maximizing flavors, reduced but adequate irrigation or non-irrigation, sunlight to the cluster, full ripeness for flavor, moderate size crops, adequate soil fertility and organic matter in soils. All this attention to detail leads to full flavored wines of good mineral content which are balance and enjoyable when released. We are Lodi's 60th winery. We crushed our first vintage in 2003 but we are not new to wine grape growing being third generation growers since 1950. In addition, we grow our own rootstock and have collected different wine varietal clones and selections for forty years. The whole family is involved. Alicante Bouschet
Inky dark violet color. Flavors of elderberry and tart cherry. Balanced, medium bodied, medium tannins, hint of spice, tobacco and subtle French oak.

Bordeaux Style Red
Petit Verdot, Carmine and Malbec. Ruby red color. Earthy aromas of mushroom and cedar. Hints of pine, BBQ and smoke. Subtle flavors of red currants and truffles.

Malbec
Intense rich cranberry red color with aromas of licorice, dark spiced plums, heirloom roses and black cherry. It is tart, medium bodied, easy on the tannins and very smooth. Aged for 12 months in French oak and at least 24 months in bottle. Delicious with roasted meats and savory treats.

Pinot Gris
Lemon, citrus, kiwi, mango and tropical fruit flavors. Hints of oak. Straw colored. Full bodied and full flavored. Barrel fermented. Stirred on lees.

100% Petite Sirah. Inky violet color. Rich blackberry and cherry fruit, black pepper, hints of thyme, sage, clove, nutmeg and chaparral, subtle French oak. Savory with elegant silky

Rhonealicious White, Viognier & Roussanne
67% Viognier, 33% Roussanne. Mouth watering full bodied, rich dry white with flavors of peach, honeysuckle, caramelized pear, apricot, tropical fruit, pineapple, mango and orange blossom. Barrel fermented. Stirred on lees.

Rosato Sangiovese
Ripe strawberries, tart cherries, dried raspberries, tomato, orange peel, toasted walnuts and damp earth. Leather. Dry, medium tartness, very light tannins, and moderate alcohol. Serve chilled.

Under the Sea
Rich golden color. Orange blossom, lemon drop and grapefruit flavors. Hints of peach, apricot, pineapple and honey- suckle. Full bodied and full flavored. Barrel fermented. Stirred on lees.

Vintage Port
55% Souzao, 45% Touriga. 45% Touriga Aromas of intense black cherry, subtle strawberry and boysenberry. Flavors of cocoa, black licorice, mint, menthol and pine. Dark ruby red color, rich balanced body, smooth tannins, chewy fruit flavors and integrated alcohol. 300ml
