Homestead Winery - Grapevine

Homestead Winery is the oldest continually operating winery in the Red River Valley of North Texas. Barb and Gabe Parker started Homestead desiring to continue the Parker family farming tradition begun in North Texas by Gabe's grandfather more than 100 years ago. When the vineyard was planted, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay grapes replaced the traditional wheat and corn in the rich, fertile soils of Ivanhoe. Today, grapes are brought in from various growers to create a wide variety of wines. Wine making is under the experienced direction of Dr. Roy Mitchell.
In addition to our Ivanhoe facility, our winery in historic downtown Denison, bottles Sherry, Port and Red Wine. The Denison tasting room offers visitors an opportunity to sample and purchase our wines. Denison enjoys a rich history in wine making. In 1880, Denison's T.V. Munson helped save France's vineyards by sending thousands of bundles of North Texas grape rootstocks to the Charante Region of France. French scientists and grape growers grafted their native grape varieties to our disease-resistant rootstocks. To this day, Denison enjoys a special Sister City relationship with Cognac, France.
While both the Ivanhoe and Denison facilities are located about an hour North of Dallas, visitors to the Dallas and Fort Worth area can also sample and purchase our wines at our tasting room in Grapevine, Texas. It is situated in a 1890s Victorian home just off historic Main Street.

Cabernet Sauvignon
Aged in American Oak barrels, giving it a strong, full body with good fruit and oak balance that goes with steak and ribs or any strong red meat like wild game.

Homestead Red
A soft, dry red wine that compliments pastas or foods from the grill.

Merlot
Soft, smooth, dry red wine with lots of fruity flavor. Excellent compliment to pork or lighter red meat dishes. Limited availability.

Muscat Canelli
One of our favorites; very floral, sweet, distinctively honeysuckle favor for fruits, cheeses, Caesar salads or even spicy foods.

Pinot Noir
High plain fruit delivers a rich chocolate cherry experience. A dry wine which matches all types of meats, especially pork.

Prairie Rose
Folks come from as far away as Frognot, Texas to lock their lips on this baby. An off dry Chenin Blanc wine with pleasant apple and pear characteristics.

Rose of Ivanhoe
An award-winning, full-bodied, sweet wine that goes well with Bar-b-que or Tex-Mex or just by itself.

Sherry
Award-winning, fortified wine; sweet, nutty taste finishes off a good meal. Try it with a roaring fire on a cold night or with ice cream in the summer.

Syrah
One of North Texas' best grapes. It makes a fruity, rich dry wine, best suited for food from the grill.

White Rose of Ivanhoe
Lighter white wine for lighter foods and salads.
