  Cabernet Franc
2001 was clearly a most favorable year for wine in Napa and Cabernet Franc is one of our favorite grape varietals at JARVIS. Dimitri Tchelistcheff, our winemaker, considers our Cabernet Franc to be one of the best wines he produces, which makes it no surprise that this wine is one of the most sought after JARVIS wines made. Our vineyard location provides cool breezes from the San Francisco Bay, which allows our grapes a longer than usual "hang-time", and the opportunity to ripen to full perfection. The 2001 Cabernet Franc has a deep lavender brilliance in the glass which adds to the delight of the drinking experience. Nineteen months of barrel aging in new French Nevers oak adds a hint of toasty vanilla to the lush ripe fruit aromas of this wine, while a delightful combination of spicy blueberry and black cherry flavors linger elegantly throughout the finish. This charming wine can be enjoyed immediately upon release and because of its concentration of fruit and incredible structure this wine will age beautifully over the next 10 years.

The 2000 Cabernet Franc exhibits a soft approachability at an early age, so it is our favorite young wine, but due to its concentration of fruit and incredible structure this wine will age beautifully over the next 10 years.
  Cabernet Sauvignon
The first harvest season of the new millennium was warm and dry allowing the grapes time to fully mature and develop on the vine, providing our winemaker, Dimitri Tchelistcheff, with a Cabernet Sauvignon harvest of superior balance and color. This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon shows rich ripe flavors and complexity of fruit from start to finish. Just after fermentation this wine received an extended period of skin contact, which moderates the tannins. Twenty-four months of aging in new French oak barrels contributes a beautiful toasty vanilla character to its rich raspberry intense aroma. Once in a bottle, this wine received an additional 3 years of cave aging, allowing it time to develop in the bottle and be ready to drink upon release. With proper cellaring, the 750ml full size bottles should continue to mature beautifully through 2013
  Cabernet Sauvignon
The harvest season in 1999 was cool and kept us waiting until mid October to even begin picking our Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. The incredible intensity of the resulting fruit was well worth the wait. This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon shows great depth and concentration of fruit from start to finish. Twenty-four months of aging in new French oak barrels contributes a beautiful toasty vanilla character to its rich fruit intense aroma. Intense in flavors of plums and blackberries this spectacular wine is velvet on the palate. Just after fermentation this wine received an extended period of skin contact, which moderated the tannin so as to make this wine very drinkable now, however, withproper cellaring, it will continue to develop beautifully for the next 20 years.
  Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve
The 1997 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is truly a legendary wine release from the "JARVIS VINTAGE OF THE CENTURY". Our winemaker Dimtri Tchelistcheff, described 1997 as "one of those rare vintages when the growing conditions are so perfect from budbreak to harvest that the vines produce grapes that winemaker's dream of". From this incredible harvest he selected specific lots to be of "Reserve" quality, to make what he describes as "the best wine of his career". Aged in new French oak barrels for over 2 years, this 100% Cabernet Sauvignon has a magnificent aroma reminiscent of sweet blackberries, cassis, and lavender. Once in bottle, this wine received an additional 3 years of cave aging. The rich concentrated fruit of this wine envelopes the palate and finishes with grand elegance. An extended period of skin contact after fermentation moderates the tannins making this wine very drinkable now, and with proper cellaring, it will continue to develop beautifully for the next 15 years.
  Chardonnay
2002 provided an ideal harvest for our Estate Grown Chardonnay. The mountain location of our vineyards and the cool breezes from the San Francisco Bay allowed these grapes a long "hang-time" and the opportunity to mature to perfection. This optimal ripening resulted in intense varietal fruit flavors. Barrel fermenting in new Burgundy French oak barrels added subtle nuances of toasty vanilla to this wine's delightful honeysuckle aroma. The sur-lie aging with weekly stirring added a creamy long finish. Our winemaker, Dimitri Tchelistcheff, suggests enjoying the 750ml full size bottles of this wine now through 2007.

  Chardonnay Reserve Finch Hollow
The 2001 Reserve Chardonnay is made of grapes from "Finch Hollow," a small plot in our Chardonnay vineyard that in previous years was harvested by flocks of Finches and Blackbirds. This plot is characterized by particularly shallow soil with exceptional drainage. In 1996 we began bird netting all our vineyards and had our first harvest from Finch Hollow. Dimitri Tchelistcheff, our winemaker, noted that the distinct terroir of this specific plot led to intense tropical fruit character in the grapes and chose to bottle this section of the vineyard seperately under a "Reserve" designation. In 1998 it was decided to try bottling the Reserve Chardonnay without fining or filtration in order to retain all of its distinctive richness and character. The 2001 Reserve Chardonnay is offered in two styles the unfined and unfiltered bottling and this the lightly fined and filtered bottling. Due to the cool growing season in 2001 these grapes enjoyed an extra amount of hang-time on the vines allowing them to ripen to perfection. This 2001 Reserve Chardonnay shows rich fruit and exceptional balance and elegance.
  Chardonnay Reserve Unfined/Unfiltered
The 1999 Reserve Chardonnay is offered in two styles the lightly fined and filtered bottling and this the unfined and unfiltered bottling which retains all the distinctive richness and character of the wine. By not fining or filtering this Reserve Chardonnay we are able to retain even the most delicate nuances of its varietal character. The rich deep flavors of this opulent Chardonnay lingers throughout its long finish.
  Lake William
Lake William is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Petit Verdot. To maintain it's consistently delightful character from year to year, our winemaker, Dimitri Tchelistcheff varies slightly the percentage of each varietal used in this blend from vintage to vintage. Eighteen months of barrel aging in 100% new French Nevers oak adds a note of toasty vanilla to aromas of cassis, cocoa, and anise. The bright flavors of the 2000 Lake William linger on the palate reminiscent of ripe cherries and chocolate. This wine has a very charming freshness that makes it ideal for drinking as a young wine. For those who choose to cellar this wine, it will continue to develop beautifully for the next 5 years
  Malbec
Malbec is one of the 5 classic Bordeaux blending varietals we have planted at Jarvis. We bottled this 100% varietal in 375ml bottles specifically for our 1999 Blending Kit. This dark violet wine shows rich plum and toasty oak characters both in the nose and on the palate. Small quantities of Malbec are used in blending to add complexity of flavor.
  Merlot
The 2000 vintage produced ideal growing conditions for our Merlot. The cool temperatures in our mountain vineyards allow for a nice long hang-time which results in grapes with intense varietal fruit characteristics. The 2000 JARVIS Merlot is a blend of 96% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Sauvignon which was barrel aged for 18 months in new French Nevers oak. The aroma of this Merlot is rich in dark fruit and violets, with a touch of toasty vanilla. It's intense plum, spicy cherry, and chocolate flavors linger through its elegant finish. Although very approachable and ready for enjoyment upon release, with proper aging this wine will continue to age beautifully over the next 5-7 years.
  Merlot
Harvest season 1999 was cooler than usual and kept us waiting anxiously until the first week of October to begin picking. The incredible intensity of the resulting fruit was well worth the wait. The resultant 1999 JARVIS Merlot is a blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Our winemaker, Dimitri Tchelistcheff chose to ferment half of the grapes for this wine in our 5 ton rotary fermentation tank which allows the wine a greater area of exposure to the cap (skins and pulp) during fermentation. This increased cap exposure helps to enhance the varietal flavor and intense color of this wine. Barrel aged for 18 months in new french Nevers oak, this wine's aroma hints of rich fruit, violets, and toasty vanilla. The spectacular ripe plum and spicy dark cherry flavors of this wine linger through its elegant finish. Although very approachable and ready for enjoyment upon release, with proper aging this wine will continue to age beautifully over the next 8-10 years.
  Petit Verdot
Petit Verdot tends to be the latest ripening of the Bordeaux varietals, even later than Cabernet Sauvignon Petit Verdot produces a rich, spicy wine that can make a valuable contribution to both the complexity and the color of Cabernet Sauvignon blends. Dimitri Tchelistcheff, our winemaker, blended a small amount of it into the 2001 Lake William and the rest was bottled in 375ml bottles ideal for your tasting experience of this interesting varietal. Deep violet in color, this charming varietal wine shows aromas and flavors of blackberries, black Cherries, vanilla and toasty oak.
