Starting a winery is certainly exciting, but can be daunting as well. Having enjoyed a full career in high tech, founding several businesses, and a “hobby” of learning about wine and selling for several wineries, Kara began wondering what’s next. After many months of contemplating doing so, she began a year-long search for the right winery to purchase, or the right property to buy to turn into a winery. After much due diligence and meeting Steve & Tommy at English Newsom Cellars, Kara knew the right model for La Vie was to partner with expert vine growers and wine makers, and focus on amazing wine tasting and food pairing experiences.
Along the way, Kara's neighbors, Mike and Susan, were heading into retirement. Mike loves to stay busy and one of his passions is gardening and working the land, though he's a Renaissance Man and can do a little bit of everything…bass guitar, handyman, cigars, and roses to name a few. It seemed a natural fit, so Mike & Susan decided to join Kara on this journey.
From Frisco (TX) to Texas Hill Country, bringing about 10 months of searching to closure, we found our estate on a beautifully terraced 26 acres in Blanco, TX. As one of the highest elevations on Ranch Road 1623, La Vie has breathtaking views for miles. La Vie is perfectly situated on Ranch Road 1623, the connecting route between Hwy 281 and Hwy 290, the Texas Wine Trail. Formerly known as the Circle H Ranch, it is a perfect fit for our “happiness” motto and living life to its fullest. Our Circle H Red is a tribute to this journey.
The Lookout at La Vie opens first as our initial tasting room. As we grow, cabins will be added and our larger tasting room will be built, with a natural amphitheater for larger events. The Lookout features a rustic atmosphere and a large deck, perfect for our amazing sunsets. Come visit us. Relax with our incredible wines and enjoy the view.
