  2002 Pinot noir – Cuvee I
Aromas of super-ripe chocolate covered black cherries, violets and recently turned soil rise from a nice glass. With time, the bouquet evolves into more complex hues of black plum skins, liquorices and freshly tanned leather. Flavors are concentrated with a laser-like focus of black cherries ringed by blueberries, black figs and raspberries dusted with a hint of late summer. Texturally, the wine has an incredible amount of glycerol that coats the mouth. Fine, ripe tannins combine with natural acidity cleansing the palate.
  2004 Broadley Vineyard
Big nose of super ripe black cherries, ripe black plums, and dusty blackberries followed by earthy, fresh mushroom-like aromas interlaced like a mincemeat pie picnic on the dense Coast Range during the early fall. Under these traditional aromas, it exhibits exotic toffee candy with nutmeg and vanilla, perhaps due to barrel influence. Quite the complex nose to say the least. In the mouth, flavors kick in under the long-chain tannins. Blood oranges and sweet cherries dominate but cinnamon and cardamom finesse. Similar to Amarone, due to the ripeness of the fruit. Rich, lush, and fat in the mouth. Finishes with nice ripe tannins and a lingering flavor of raspberry and fig compote—if such a thing exists. A flamboyant wine in a more modern style. Unlike the 2003 Broadley, this wine is ready to drink now. 44 cases produced

  2004 Canary Hill-Old Block
A dark wine in color, aromatic and flavor. More viscous, more brooding, more aromatically complex than the other 2004s with smells of dark fruit and flowers followed by licorice and violets. On the palate, blackberries and sweet cherries with hints of vanilla bean. Velvet-like and mouth-coating glycerol with a nice balance between the fruit, acidity and tannins. Needs more time to integrate, but I think this wine also has great ability to age. All French once-filled barrels. 134 cases produced.
  2004 Cuvee E
A blend of several Pinot noir vineyards, the color is a dark red with nice viscosity. On the nose, pure classic Pinot aromas of cherry, raspberry, and strangely enough, blueberries over hot Pinhead Scottish Oatmeal – really – I kid you not! Tasting again reveals raspberry and cranberry. As the wine opens, it begins to show a touch of brown-sugar sweetness while the glycerin gives waxiness to the palate. With a bit of cheese, the acid steps back slightly and the fruit comes forward. One now gets cherry, strawberry, and that wacky and waxy fruit known as Carambola, or Star Fruit at your local produce stand. As time elapses, the wine opens more, with cherries dominating the flavor profile. The finish exhibits cherries, cream and vanilla. Yummy! Only 411 cases produced.
  2004 Meredith Mitchell Vineyard
Darkest in color due to the thickness of the skins and aromatically the most exotic with fruits ranging from black cherries and tangerines with an element of fresh cut straw to star anise spice. Flavors include ripe stone fruits, sweet blood oranges, raspberries, bitter chocolate and Medjool dates- flavors this Pommard clone tends to show in Meredith Mitchell Pinot. Nice fine grained tannins combine with good acidity to make a flavorful and textural finish. Great structure of elegance, finesse, harmony and length similiar to that of the better Burgundies in the better vintages. All French, once-filled barrels. 135 cases produced.
  2004 Wind Hill
Limpid ruby red in the glass showing a lovely lavender nose with hints of fresh cherry blossoms. With time this aroma moves into sweet black cherry pie a la mode. Beautiful balance aromatically and texturally; this is a classic Pinot noir. The fruit and oak profile balance against the naturally high acid level resulting from the vineyard’s exposure, altitude, and age. The tannins give a good grip to the wine, and some spice comes forward, even a hint of cinnamon. Cherries combine with dustiness from the tannins for a finish with flavor and texture. Really nice fruit as well with tastes of raspberry and candied cherries. Not a big bruiser but stylish, sweet, and silky with a great mineral component. This is the most accessible of the 2004 single vineyard wines and, unlike the rest, distinctly feminine. 156 cases produced
  NV Pig Cuvee
100% Pinot Noir from barrels from 2003 and 2004 that were not quite “up to snuff” to be bottled with the rest of the vintage, but perfect for blending into the Pig Cuvee/Wilbur's Reserve/Swine Swill. Nothing added and nothing taken away. Straight forward and a great wine for summertime bbqs.
