Tenuta Vineyards

Tenuta Vineyards Established in 2000 by Nancy & Ron Tenuta, the winery is nestled in the beautiful grape-covered hills of the South Livermore Valley. The facility resembles the Tuscan villas of Italy and uses only Livermore Valley grown grapes to make their handcrafted wines. The boutique winery specializes in estate grown Chardonnay and Pinot Noir wines while producing a number of other varietal wines and blends. The Tasting Room is open Saturday & Sunday 12:00 pm - 5:00pm.

  Aria
Our newest blend - 60% Chardonnay (Livermore), 40% Sauvignon Blanc (Brentwood). A crisp, summer wine with fresh lemon and citrus flavors, combined by warmer, creamy honey notes from the Chardonnay portion. Great as an everyday sipper and firm enough to go very well with food, especially rich and creamy dishes.
  Duet Bin 3
fun wine! Made for sipping on the patio on a hot summers day. A blend of Chardonnay and a touch of the very aromatic viognier. Ripe, rich, vibrant with tropical fruits and honey notes. Chill well and enjoy with salmon, pastas, chicken and veal dishes.
  Estate Chardonnay
In 2003 the grapes of the two Chardonnay clones on Tenuta's property were separated and fermented apart from each other, to allow room to play and blend and so bring even more complexity. Wine was also allowed to undergo only 50% malo-lactic fermentation, which resulted in even more pronounced ripe, citrussy fruit. This is the first bottling - wine spent 10 months in oak (mostly new French, 20%, with about 10% American). A very yummy mouthfeel. Smooth, creamy, ripe citrus flavors.
  Estate Pinot Noir
This Pinot Noir was made from our very own estate grapes just outside the winery. Grapes were cool-fermented using French yeast in stainless steel tanks and then aged 10 months in new and second fill, predominantly French oak barrels. Being the only Pinot Noir from the Livermore Valley, we aim to make this wine our little jewel. More cool ferments, separation of lots, experimentation with different French barrels, longer barrel ageing and many more plans are all in line for this wine. Supple berry-fruits with hints of spice on the nose are followed through on the palate. Ripe tannins, silky mouth feel, long finish.
  Estate Pinot Noir
This Pinot Noir was made from our estate Pinot Noir vineyards. Moved by gravity at every possible stage of vinification, allowing the grapes to show off their fruit. Interesting to note the differences between this one and the 2001 vintage. Preferences are 50/50. One is more structured and a little bolder, the other is smoother and displays more typical Pinot "berry" fruit on the nose. You choose!
  Merlot
Our first of this varietal! Aromas of ripe cherries, raspberries and touches of liquorish on the nose follow through on the palate. Fills out nicely on the mid palate, and lingers on the finish. Smooth for drinking now, but you should be rewarded with further bottle maturation.
  Petit Sirah
Aged in 30% new French oak for 18 months. Ripe, juicy berry fruits on nose and palate. Very smooth. Most people can't believe it's so young. A delicious wien made from grapes from Bodegas Aguirre in Livermore Valley. Savor it!
  Pinot Noir
This Pinot Noir was made from Pinot Noir vineyards in Monterey. Compare to our Estate Pinot Noir for an interesting comparison. Good structure, hints of smokey spice on top of subtle flavors. Good food wine.
  Sangiovese
Our first Sangiovese! Dried cherries and cranberries on the nose with hints of subtle spice. Nicely balanced on the mouth, with a dry but lingering finish. Different in style than some of our other varietals - more subtle, more delicate, yet still layered with elegant flavors. And so far very popular! You'll have to give it a try!
  Syrah
This Syrah is made from grapes from the Livermore Valley and Brentwood. Blended with about 5% Cabernet to add to the complexity. Aged in American and French oak barrels for 12 months and further matured in 3rd fill barrels for 5 months. Lots of spice, pepper and earth undertones. Silky tannins.
