Sorensen Cellars
|
|
Established in 1998, Sorensen Cellars is a small family winery dedicated to the limited production of premium wines at affordable pricing. At Sorensen Cellars we age our wines in French Oak Barrels, imparting character and structure yet aiming for balance, allowing the natural fruit characters to dominate the wine. Blending wines is a craft unto itself. We take great pride in selecting the wines used to create a single varietal or using several varietals to create a blend. Soils, sub-soils, drainage, the orientation of the vineyards to the sun, climate, all of these factors along with smart vineyard management contribute to the production of exceptional fruit. Great Wines are made from outstanding grapes. Our philosophy at Sorensen Cellars is to seek out the superior vineyards in Washington State. We offer two labels, Sorensen, being our premium label, and Townsend Bay oriented towards fun and value. We invite you to visit Sorensen Cellars and try our winery's unique personality and style.

Sorensen Cabernet Franc
From Ciel du Cheval Vineyard on Red Mountain. • Rich, beautiful depth of color. On the nose, I get hints of Blueberry Pie. • Across the palate I find Blueberry/Huckleberry and a touch of Cranberry. • Good acids and balance. • Lightly oaked. • Pair with breast of Muscovy Duck smothered in a Wild Huckleberry sauce.
|
Sorensen Cabernet Sauvignon
My cabernets have always received outstanding ratings or medals. This cab won a Gold Medal at a Wines of Washington Festival. This vintageis a blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc, all Red Mountain fruit, primarily Ciel du Cheval Vineyard. The wine shows a nice depth of color with a nose exhibiting dark fruits.
|
Sorensen Merlot
From Ciel du Cheval Vineyard on Red Mountain. A soft merlot exhibiting notes of Lambert Cherries and Plum jam. I also find notes of Chocolate and Coffee on the mid-palate.
• Blended with 12% Cabernet Franc.
• Pair with Grilled Lamb.
|
Sorensen Rosé of Cabernet Franc
A new wine for Sorensen, a beautiful light copper color with hints of fresh strawberry jam on the nose. Again, I find creamy strawberry characters on the palate. A dry rose with a hint of sweetness. This is a great picnic wine to serve throughout the summer.
|
Sorensen Sangiovese
The fruit comes from 7 Hills Vineyard in Walla Walla. Blended with 20% Red Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon. The Sangiovese was aged in 100% neutral barrels. Deep violet in color. I find light Raspberry characters on the nose. Bright on the palate with lighter fruits, good acids. Nice mouthfeel, very light tannins. Serve with a wild mushroom ravioli and a rich tomato sauce.
|
Sorensen Sauvignon Blanc
From Windy Ridge Vineyard in the new Horse Heaven Hills Appellation. • Exhibits a nose of Pineapple and other tropical fruits • A very nice crisp, dry white which is great for just sipping on its own, or try
pairing with Northwest Shellfish, Dungeness Crab, Hood Canal Shrimp or
Marrowstone Island Pacific Oysters• Match this wine with a marinated loin of pork.
|
Sorensen Syrah
The fruit comes from Ciel du Cheval Vineyard on Red Mountain. A dark, inky wine in color with a nice depth of fruit. On the nose, rich fruits and a little bit of earth. Toasted oak, chocolate and exotic spices meld with the dark fruits on the palate.
|
Townsend Bay Cabernet Sauvignon
Most of the fruit comes to us from Whitestone Vineyard near Lake Roosevelt
in the Columbia Valley Appellation. • A well balanced Cabernet Sauvignon with lively acids and pleasing fruit across the palate. 5% Merlot was added to give a touch of softness to the wine. • A good food wine. Try pairing with a rich Autumn Stew.
|
Townsend Bay Pinot Gris
Always a favorite, this wine opens with fresh pear overtones. A rich wine, with rich pear/apple characters across the palate. Hints of butterscotch? You be the judge.
|
Townsend Bay Semillon
Semillion from the Fred Artz vineyards on the new Red Mountain Appellation.
• Again, Pale gold/straw in color
•Rich pear and fig characters on the nose, carrying over onto the palate.
•This wine was barrel fermented using 20% new French Oak.
•Serve with fresh Ling Cod prepared in a wine and butter reduction sauce.
