Sonnet Wine Cellars
|
|
For two thousand years, the Pinot Noir grape has been cultivated and vinified. Sonnet is dedicated to producing wines that capture and express the character of Pinot Noir at its most sublime. The French use the word terroir to describe a wine's reflection of the land. We believe wine should go further, bottling both a time and a place to be uncorked and remembered. Each wine we produce is a testament to the vintage, a vinous memory of every harvest, to be poured over and relived. This is our philosophy of wine…we welcome you to join us.

Kruse Vineyard Pinot Noir
The York Mountain appellation is located near Templeton and Paso Robles. Although Paso is well known for Zinfandel and Syrah, the Templeton Gap, an East – West valley where Kruse Vineyard is situated, is cooled by the maritime influence of the pacific. The finest of California’s pinot noir vineyards are all located in the cooler parts of the state, and York Mountain is one of the coolest. These cooler regions give us the raw material to make wines of great depth and fruitiness. This particular pinot shows a splendid array of tart red cherries, blackberries and ripe black cherries, with undertones of toasty oak.

Tondre's Grapefield Pinot Noir
his wine is a testament to the cool climate of the Santa Lucia Highlands. It shows what can happen when a pinot vineyard is planted in the right location. It has the typical spiciness of the Highlands appellation, coupled with an amazing depth of tart red cherry fruit. The tight grain of the Hungarian oak allows only a hint of oak flavors that support rather than dominate the fruit. The palate is well structured, with plenty of color and smooth tannins to ensure ageability.
