Wofford Acres Vineyards

Wofford Acres Vineyards After making gold medal winning wines for 30 harvests winemaker Paul Wofford is in Camino turning grapes into gold. During the 2005 California State Fair, Wofford Acres Vineyards received the "Best Red Blend for the Sierra Foothill Region" and a gold medal for their 2004 LaMancha because of Paul's expertise. In 2006, Wofford Acres Vineyards received silver medals from both the California State and El Dorado County Fairs for our 2005 Molino de Viento, proving once again that "real men drink pink!" Paul's winemaking experience began with graduate studies at Fresno State University and continued on in the cellars at Clos du Val and Zaca Mesa. His years as the winemaker for Martin Ray and Bargetto Winery have made his name synonymous with creating excellent wines. His wine consultant business clients include St. Amant Winery and Port Works, Vino Con Brio Winery, Trout Gulch Vineyards, Hunter Hill Winery, Loma Prieta Winery and California Cellars. Paul's awards list is filled with top honors, and what follows are just a sampling of his awards. Pinot Noir has earned Paul "Best of Class" at both the California State Fair and the West Coast Wine Competition, and "Double Gold" at the East Coast International Wine Competition. His Meritage-style blends have also earned him "Best of Class" at the California State Fair and the Los Angeles County Fair, and "Double Gold" at the San Francisco International Wine Competition and the Atlanta International Wine Challenge. Paul's Merlot and Zinfandel have also garnered him "Double Gold" medals, his Chardonnay has been selected "Best Chardonnay of California" at the California State Fair and a "Best Buy" by Wine Spectator magazine. Paul has two styles of Gewurztraminer, both Dry and Medium-Dry, which have been recognized with "Best of Show" at the El Dorado/Reno West Coast Competition, and a Wine Enthusiast magazine honor of Greater United States Wine Producers. Paul and his business partners (brother Mike and wife Ann, sons David and Andy and nephew Michael) invite you to come to our winery at 1900 Hidden Valley Lane and see for yourself why Paul's winemaking skills are such a wonderful addition to Apple Hill. We look forward to offering you a taste of our El Dorado gold!
