Torii Mor Winery

Torii Mor Winery Torii Mor Winery was founded in 1993 by Donald Olson, MD, who remains the owner to this day with his wife, Margie. The Winery was initially a small project that was intended to showcase the fruit from his vineyard. The focus at the winery is devoted to the production of Pinot Noir beginning in the vineyards with careful, attentive management to achieve mouth-watering, truly physiologically ripe fruit and continuing in the cellar with small lots, minimal handling, and native yeast fermentation to express each unique site in a classic "Burgundian" way. Visit our tasting room and experience the wines while taking in the beautiful Japanese garden and a breathtaking view over Olson Vineyard. Open daily 11:00-5:00. Closed Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, New Years Day.

2003 "Deux Verres" Reserve Pinot Noir
The 2003 Reserve wine exhibits a color of dense ruby-purple with aroma of earth, black cherry, black-berry, light vanilla, altogether sweet, rich and inviting. The flavors are at first sweet and round with red cherries, boysenberries, blueberries, then turn to the dark side with oak toast and notes of charred pie crust and tar. The texture is sweet and soft, with well integrated tannins.
2003 Hawks View Vineyard Pinot Noir
The 2003 Hawks View Vineyard Pinot Noir has a rich aroma of earth-mushrooms and black berries with a sweet note of toasty oak, after the wine opens up more raspberries and red cherries appear. The flavors are of dark chocolate and black cherries with a rich, sweet grape and oak tannin profile. The wine shows its vintage by displaying a jammy character and a touch of heat in the finish from the alcohol. The wine has a good, medium sweet texture, with rich tannins that still show a little edge in the after taste.
  2003 Olson Vineyard Pinot Noir
The 2003 Olson Vineyard Pinot Noir already exhibits a perfect balance between grace and power. The Olson begins with a nose of sweet red berry fruits, earth, brown sugar, and spicy chocolate notes. Intense layers of raspberries, blackberries, and blue fruits explode in the mouth. The intense fruit and ripe tannins envelope the mouth and finish long and elegant. This wine is approachable now but with patience you will be rewarded.
2003 Temperance Hill Vineyard Pinot Noir
The powerful 2003 Temperance Hill has dark intense fruit with layers of black cherries, strawberries and spice. This massive Pinot explodes on the palate with dark cherries, earth, brown tea and cocoa. With time, the mature, round tannins will integrate to frame out this Pinot while the beautiful acidity holds this intense package together.
  2004 Chardonnay
The wine has a pale yellow color with an aroma that is buttery with light oak toast and layers of ripe apples, dry hay and a touch of floral notes. The flavors are round and soft and also display the ripe apples, with some toasty oak, light buttery character and a combination of dry hay and hazelnuts from the middle to the finish. The wine has a good acidity to handle food, it is round and sweet to start, then the acidity brings forward a drier component that carries the long finish.
  2004 Pinot Blanc
This rich, expressive Pinot Blanc offers a floral aroma with lemon zest and tropical fruits. The flavors have green apple and a hint of citrus rind, tropical fruits and herb spices. A creamy texture and the right acidity make this Pinot Blanc a perfect companion to shellfish.
  2004 Pinot Gris
Our 2004 Pinot Gris aroma begins with tropical notes of pineapple, citrus and baked apples followed by pears, peaches, and mineral nuances. Aromas mirror the palate with rich crisp acidity, lively flavors of golden delicious apples, ripe pears and a hint of peach intertwined with herbal notes of licorice and mint. This Pinot Gris is appropriate for drinking now, but will open and soften over the next year.
  2004 Willamette Valley Pinot Noir
The 2004 Oregon Pinot Noir is very forward, as soon as it is poured in the glass it opens up and shows the richness and depth of dark berries and a mix of blackberries and blueberries. Soon after, the aroma reveals earthy-meaty- mushroomy notes that blend in with boysenberries and both black and red cherries, all within a subtle jammy, sweet richness. The flavors show some real sweetness that carries all the way through the long finish. Loads of black cherries, raspberries and boysenberries followed by toasty oak and jamminess round up the favors. The texture of the wine is sweet and round, with soft tannins that carry the flavors all the way through the long finish. Expect this Pinot to provide even more pleasure and dimension as it blossoms over the next few years.
