Dutcher Crossing Winery
|
|
Dutcher Crossing Winery is a small winery in the Dry Creek Valley of Sonoma County in northern CA. The winery is situated on a beautiful site in the middle of Dutcher Crossing Vineyards, and overlooks the vineyards and the rolling hills just south of the valley. The charm and quaintness of the architectural style reflect the older barn looks reminiscent of the early 1900’s farming community in the Dry Creek Valley. A large open breezeway and tasting room welcome visitors to a magnificent view of the panoramic vineyards and hillside beauty of the Dry Creek area, and the trellised picnic area, set amidst natural gardens, offers an ideal place to relax and sip the winery’s selections. Dutcher Crossing Winery was conceived and is being built by the Nevins and Stevens families following their purchase of the Dry Creek vineyard property in 2001. Bruce Nevins and Jim Stevens have a 30 year history from when they co-founded Perrier North America and became recognized for creating the foundation for the bottled water business in the United States. Since then they have worked together on many successful ventures, including marketing and distribution of several domestic and international wine brands in the US market. The desire of the families is to create an authentic and enjoyable experience for wine lovers who visit their small winery. Visitors will have the opportunity to learn how they produce small lots of high quality wines from grapes of selected vineyards, and to view the barrel room and other winery facilities. Family members plan to be available at the winery to welcome visitors during most opening hours and at all wine club and other special events.

Cabernet Sauvignon Port
Our 2002 dessert wine is made from Cabernet Sauvignon grapes grown in the Stuhlmuller Vineyard. Barrel aged in French Oak for 32 months, this lovely dessert wine has aromas of spicy licorice and sweet black fruits. The luscious flavors are richly concentrated and deliciously satisfying.

Dutcher Crossing Sauvignon Blanc
The 2005 Dutcher Crossing Sauvignon Blanc characterizes the great grassy and floral Dry Creek Valley Sauvignon Blanc, blended for richness and length. The Preston Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc component (80%) was both stainless and French barrel fermented, but without allowing malolactic fermentation. Semillon (10%) from a twenty year old vineyard was fermented in neutral barrels and contributes a rich texture to the palate. The addition of stainless fermented Viognier (8%) and Rousanne (2%) lend a complexity to Sauvignon Blanc’s natural floral signature. A complete wine that finishes with satisfying length.

Maple Vineyard Zinfandel
Dutcher Crossing’s Zinfandel grapes come from the Twisted Oak Block of the Maple’s Gold Medal winning vineyards, located on bench land property on the East side of the Dry Creek Valley. Tom and Tina Maple tend to their superbly groomed vineyards by personally pruning each and every vine on the property during the dormant winter months. They grow a small amount of Petite Syrah grapes that are “field blended” with their Zinfandel as they deliver their annual harvest to the winery for crush. This marriage with Petite Syrah (8%), lend structure and muscle to the layers of sweet aromatic fruit and crafted long satisfying finish. Maple Vineyard Zinfandels are known for their lush berry flavors and for staying true to the classic character of Zins from the Dry Creek Valley.

Nevins Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
The grapes for this 100% Cabernet Sauvignon are grown at the highest elevations on Nevins` hillside vineyards in the Alexander Valley. A long growing season allowed the grapes extra hang time until perfect ripeness and flavor maturity were achieved. Classic in style the wine has a lingering finish, revealing hints of currant, raspberry and true plum. A stellar first release.

Russian River Chardonnay
This classic Russian River Chardonnay has a light golden straw color. In the nose aromas of a distinctively barrel fermented Chardonnay evolve with scents of pear, lemon custard and mineral. The mouth feel is velvety and gentle with a sensation of sweetness from Chardonnay maturity, pleasantly paired with balanced and bright acidity. It’s a lingering wine that pleases.

Stuhlmuller Vineyard Chardonnay
Exceptional wine made from grapes selected by Dutcher Crossing’s winemaker, Kerry Damskey. Stuhlmuller Vineyards has set aside a block of vines in the coolest part of Alexander Valley, adjacent to the Russian River. Grapes that produce a lush and complex Chardonnay with subtle tropical flavors that linger through the finish. A wine to be enjoyed on its own or with meals.
