Burnet Ridge
|
|
Chip began Burnet Ridge Winery, named after the street where he grew up in
Northern Kentucky, to make quality wine for himself and his friends and family.
This small Old-World style of winery was never intended to be a commercial
operation but one of personal enjoyment. Working as safety engineer for the
state of Kentucky during the day and researching and experimenting with wine
at night, Chip perfected his wines. Chip would often show up at local wine
tastings with his hand-crafted artisan wines and share them with local wine
advocates. When people asked Chip where he purchased his wine he would humbly
say, “I make this in my garage.” In 1993 Chip, with the help of his friend
Steve Dietrich, began Burnet Ridge, Inc. as commercial winery which has been
producing high-quality fine wines ever since.

The wine, aged in French oak barrels, is full bodied with toasty, earthy,
ripe pear and apple flavors. encourage you to drink this lovely wine while it is in its
youth; however it does have the acidity to age.

Merlot
This wine has a soft mouth feel and an excellent finish. It has coffee like nuances
in the nose, with big, intense, herbal, cedary, chalky, blackberry with black cherry
fruit flavors. This is a Cab drinkers Merlot which is lovely to drink now, but certainly
has the potential for several years of bottle aging.

Purple Trillium
This is a Pauillac style Bordeaux blend consisting of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot
and Petit Verdot. The color of the wine is dark ruby with intense, ripe, raspberry
fruit and green olive aromas that open up while airing in the glass. This wine has
forward, rich, plush, cedary, spicy, red currant flavors with great depth and structure. Aged in mostly new American oak from the Ozarks in Southwestern Missouri. Enjoyable
to drink now, though will benefit with several more years of bottle aging.
|
Sauvignon Blanc
The grapes in this wine were picked under ideal conditions. The aroma suggest peaches,
melon, fig and spice. The flavors are fresh, supple, earthy, grassy and citrussy. The
wine has good depth and length on the finish; with a lingering aftertaste. This very appealing wine shows intense varietal character and will continue to develop with bottle age for another year or so.
|
Super Tuscan
Hill side grapes from a single vineyard produced this fabulous blend. The addition of
Trillium takes this wine to the next level of Greatness! It enhances the color, mouth
feel, middle pallet and finish of the wine. There is herbal, ripe plum/cherry aroma with
overtones of vanilla and spice. This wine is fun to drink now and will benefit from further bottle age if you have the patience to wait.
|
