Fort George Brewery

Fort George Brewery ort George Brewery + Public House sits on the original settlement site of Fort Astoria, founded in 1811 by Captain Jonathan Thorn. The oldest US settlement west of the Rockies, Fort Astoria was the Pacific Fur Company's primary trading post in the Northwest. Under temporary British authority during the War of 1812, it was renamed "Fort George" after King George III. In 1924, the current Fort George Building was erected to house an automotive repair shop. Abandoned and neglected in the early 90s, the Fort George Building was revitalized in 2007 as a home to Blue Scorcher Bakery and the original brewpub. Fort George purchased the neighboring Lovell Building in 2010, which now houses the Lovell Taproom and a larger brew system. An upstairs pizzeria was added to the Fort George Building in 2013. Fort George has been thankful to grow with the community around the Lower Columbia River.
