Major Creek Cellars

Major Creek Cellars Major Creek Cellars is ideally situated between the great vineyards of Oregon and Washington, and in a newly minted American Viticultural Area, the Columbia Gorge. Major Creek itself is a tributary of the Columbia River that dug a deep canyon on the north side of the river directly south of Mt Adams, near White Salmon, Washington. The winery is located on a plateau above Major Creek and the Columbia River and is afforded dramatic views of Mt Adams and Mt Hood. We produce mostly red wine such as Oregon Pinot Noir, Syrah and Cabernet Franc. These are varietals that demand attention but bring great rewards in flavor and in bouquet. We also make rose and occasionally merlot, cabernet sauvignon and chardonnay if the vintage is good. Unlike other wineries, we concentrate on only a few cuvees each year to give each wine our full attention as it develops.

  Oregon Grenache
This medium bodied wine is with grapes from this renowned southern Oregon vineyard where long summers ripen the grapes well. We added 10% Syrah to the cuvee for body and color. Interestingly, this wine began fermentation during a total lunar eclipse in 2004. Take a walk on the wild side with this Grenache blend. Red fruit with lots of white pepper on top of light tannins make for a enjoyable wine that goes with lamb, steak, poultry and mildly spice dishes.
  Washington State Syrah
Blackberry, cola, licorice and clove flavors predominate. A blend of old and new world styles, this wine was aged in neutral oak barrels to avoid any oak flavor. This washington syrah has 4% Grenache added for spice.
