Desert Hills Estate Winery

The Wine Capital of Canada, Oliver, BC is home to a premiere terroir known as the Black Sage Bench. It is here in the sun-soaked desert climate of the sound Okanagan that you find out 24 acre vineyard and family owned estate winery. This estate was purchased by our family in 1988 and the planting of Vitis Vineifera were introduced in 1995. Today the vineyard is in full production with planting of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Gamay, Malbec, Merlot and Pinot Gris. Our family has hand selected this gentle east to west sloping property for is natural attributes to potentially deliver some of Canada’s finest grapes. The Black Sage Bench has become notorious for its long hot summer days that concentrate the flavors in the grapes, and its gentle cool evenings that round the complexity of each variety.The moderating effect of the Okanagan River on the lower western edge of the vineyard is also a natural deterrent against October frost. It is not just a coincidence that you will find us located between Black Hills & Burrowing Owl Estate wineries on the Black Sage Bench. "True Pleasure is only a sip away", as you will soon discover when you try one of our select wines. Our estate is not only a family owned and operated business, it is also our life and passion.

Cabernet Sauvignon
Berry notes are highlighted by the soft, smooth tannins and long, luscious legs. A hint of toasty light oak was developed during the 14 months aging in small French oak barrels.

Cabernet/ Merlot
Our Cab/merlot is bright ruby in colour. Dark berry flavors of blueberry and blackberry with
hints of chocolate vanilla and jam are highlighted by soft tannins. Aged in oak for 14 months this wine is ready to drink now or
cellar for another 4-5 years.

Chardonnay
This un-oaked chardonnay is a superb dry wine that exhibits luscious flavor of apple and pear. It matches nicely with seafood, and poultry dishes as well as light cheeses

Gamay
Our Gamay has accents of black cherry, Vanilla and spice. Excellent with ham, red sauce pasta dished and spicy food

Meritage
Our Meritage is a carefully crafted blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. This satisfying, full bodied wine combines distinctive berry and peppery notes with a rich robust flavor and velvety finish.

Merlot
Our merlot is deep colored, full bodied with black currant, blackberry, black cherry, vanilla, light oak, clove and green peppercorn flavors.

Pinot Gris
Light Citrus. Pear and pineapple fruit flavors with a hint of butterscotch, During the partial oak barrel aging, the wine acquired complexity, soft taste, a touch of vanilla & a beautiful smooth finish. Perfect with fish, white meats, salads, pasta and soft cheeses

Syrah
A robust and hardy wine with long lasting flavors of blackberry, raspberry and a hint of vanilla, cloves and spicy oak.
