Crowson Wines

The first vintage of Crowson wines were made in 2016. That year, I processed 130 cases worth of wine. The following year, Harvest 2017, I processed 500 cases worth of wine with my dad, and it was with that vintage that we felt comfortable pursuing our license to open a tasting room in Johnson City, TX.
Our family opened the Crowson Winery & Tasting Room the last weekend of April 2018, and now Dad and I process enough fruit for about 2,000 cases of wine a year. Our winery facility is on-site with our tasting room in “downtown” Johnson City, and that is where all production takes place.
As a winemaker, I take a non-interventionist approach to my wines. This style is often referred to as zero-zero wine (nothing added, nothing taken away.) Right now we are one of the only wineries in Texas that makes wine exclusively in that fashion: where, if we had an ingredients list, the ingredients would be just ‘grapes.’
The video below is a conversation I had with a dear friend of mine, and in that video I speak to my practices in the cellar and the philosophy behind why I choose to take this uncommon approach. It’s a long video; but if you have the time, you will gain a greater understanding of our story.
At the end of the day, I believe that my winemaking style makes wine more soulful and expressive, uniquely authentic, and worth your time. It constantly excites me to get to share it.
