Spenker Winery
|
|
Welcome to Spenker Winery! Spenker Winery has deep roots in the rich soils of the Lodi Appellation. In 1902, Grandfather Fritz Spenker skillfully planted a unique zinfandel clone recognized for its distinctive character and quality. This full century of Spenker traditional farming, passed on from one generation to the next, brings a remarkable quality to their wine drawing on their history and experience. The result is a wonderful indigo colored and silky textured zinfandel wine. Great to enjoy with friends and family.

1998 LODI APPELLATION ESTATE ZINFANDEL
This wine was aged with French Oak, instead of the American Oak we have previously used. The wonderful fruity character of the wine - blackberries & currants - is enhanced by the toasty undertones of vanilla, espresso, and chocolate. This Zinfandel pairs well with red meats and sausages, Italian foods in red sauce, and chocolate desserts.

1999 LODI APPELLATION ESTATE ZINFANDEL
This vintage has typical Spenker Zin character: very dark, rich color, aromas of espresso, tobacco, chocolate and blackberry fruit. The fruit flavors include blackberry, and perhaps wild cherry or cranberry. Hints of chocolate and black pepper also come through. This wine will age for a number of years, maintaining its fruity Zinfandel quality and smoothing out the "marraige" of the oak tannins and the fruit. The '99 vintage pairs especially well with grilled lamb or pork roast, sausages, pastas with tomato sauces, and chocolate desserts.

2000 LODI APPELLATION ESTATE ZINFANDEL
lackberry aroma filled the winery during fermentation. This berry character, along with suggestion of black cherry, is present in the finished wine. The rich fruit brings "sweetness" to mind, although the wine is dry. This appears to be a characteristic of well-made Lodi appellation wines.
