Tofanelli Family Vineyard

Tofanelli Family Vineyard Our family is honored to offer you ultra premium wines from the estate vineyard that we've been farming on a daily basis since 1929. Our extremely limited production (under 800 cases annually) enables a focus on quality with a hands on approach that reaches from grapevine to bottle. The historical vineyard located at the top of the Napa Valley near the town of Calistoga now stands as one of the last examples of pre-World War II grape growing. The methods we still use were once prevalent throughout the valley; no irrigation (not even a drip line to be seen), no trellis systems (our vines are free standing without wire support), and of course an organic philosophy (we never jumped on the 'bandwagon' of post-war pesticides). Given the reputation of the vines and the limited production of our winery, we can still offer fruit to other notable producers such as Turley Wine Cellars, Spottswoode Winery, Schrader Cellars, Orin-Swift (a.k.a. the 'Prisoner') Cellars, Neyers Vineyards and Duckhorn Vineyards. For more specific information on our vineyards and winemaking approach, as well as our current release and ordering instructions, please follow the links below. We thank you for your interest, and hope that you have the occasion to experience the Tofanelli wines.

  Charbono
More and more people are discovering this rarely planted varietal. The vintage shows remarkable richness. Get ready for the adjectives that came out of a single tasting: cran-raspberry juice, black cherry, black currant, blueberry compote, creamy butterscotch, pie spice, cardamom, white pepper, sandalwood, cedar, violets and tar, cigar tobacco, leather, pencil lead and wet stones. This wine is already showing integrated tannins - it’s drinking very well now and should age for many, many years.
  Zinfandel
A ripe and complex vintage, this Zinfandel shows a variety of characteristics ranging from peach, strawberry and uncooked rhubarb to earthy black tea and pepper. The wine opens up in the glass to reveal blackberry / raspberry fruit notes layered with pipe tobacco, allspice and cedar. A bright acidity, along with firm tannins and a broad range of flavors ensure that this is a wine that can be paired with many different foods.
