Toro Run Winery

In 2005 while at a restaurant show, two finger lake natives and long time friends, Chris and Jim pursued their dreams of owning a vineyard. Shortly there after, upon looking at a few sites, the dream became a reality with the purchase of 64-acres of land overlooking Cayuga Lake. In the height of the real estate boom, the partners quickly had to outbid an interested party for the land they knew would become the future home of Toro Run Winery.
Over the next two years the owners along with family, friends, and local contractors cleared land and built a vineyard community with ten 1-acre lots. Along the way 11 acres of land was cultivated and prepped for planting. In 2009 with the assistance from a local nursery and Cornell University where Jim holds a degree in Agricultural Economics, while Chris attended UC Davis and studied Victiculture and Enology, 15,000 vines were planted.
2012 was a landmark year for Toro Run. Their first full harvest coincided with the completion of a 5,000 square foot state of the art production center. The facility being built into the embankment on the hill, allows for the collection of nutrient rich water used on the vines and allows for natural cooling and temperature regulation. Chris and Jim’s vision was to capture the essence of the Finger Lakes spectacular views and climate. We invite you to come and enjoy the natural beauty and serenity of the Finger Lakes Wine Region.
