English Estate Winery

English Estate Winery English Estate is one of three wineries in Clark County, along with Salishan Vineyards near La Center and Bethany Vineyards near Ridgefield. The Columbia River and Willamette River join here to create a climate and soils proven ideal for grape growing, with the nearby Columbia River Gorge to the East having the greatest influence. English Estate Winery released its first vintage, 2001, in April 2002. English Estate makes a wide variety of wines from its own Pinot Noir vineyard, Gravel Mine Vineyards, planted in 1980 and 1983: a fruity Nouveau, the Award-Winning Pinot Noir Nectar sweet sipping wine, the Gravel Mine Pinot Noir classic red wine. The vineyard also includes one quarter acre of Cabernet Sauvignon grapes planted in 1980 with its first wines available in spring 2004. English Estate also makes Pinot Noir from other vineyards in Clark County, blending these high quality grapes to produce what we call Clark County Premium. The winemaker, Carl English, takes great pride in the arts of wine grape growing and wine-making and since 1983 he has made a wide variety of wines from his grapes.

  Columbia Valley Syrah
Seriously intense color and rich blackberry flavor.
  Golden Sunset Sauvignon Blanc
...slightly sweet, bursting with heady Sauvignon Blanc character.
  Gravel Mine Pinot Noir
......made from our Pommard clone grapes from our home vineyard. Typically, lively and fruity, but with good body and aging potential, developing a cherrywood character.
  Gravel Mine Pinot Noir "Frizzante"
Our 2003 Gravel Mine Vineyards Pinot Noir has a character very much like its 2001 counterpart, so we decided to do an early release of a small quantity of the 2003 vintage. Enjoy a refreshing spritziness in this young wine. We call it "Frizzante" and serve it chilled over ice with a little sweetener such as a sugar cube or Splenda. Or let it breath for awhile and enjoy a remarkably fruity Pinot Noir dinner wine.
  Gravel Mine Vineyards Pinot Nectar
A crowd-pleaser! Great before or after meals with lower-acid fruits or strong, hard cheeses. A version of Pinot Noir that we haven’t found anywhere else. Just sweet enough. Bronze medalist at 2003 Northwest Wine Summit at Timberline Lodge.
Lauren Ridge Gravel Mine Pinot Noir
"Wow! Incredible! Fantastic!" were the words coming out of the family members' mouths when they tasted this wine. We give this wine our special "Lauren Ridge" label to denote how special it is.
  Monte Carlo White Wine

...classic floral Riesling aroma and flavor, slightly sweet.
  Sweet Ruby Red
