Three Brothers Distillery is a small start up distillery located in Southeastern VA which is opening to meet the growing demand for craft and artisanal whiskeys in the Mid-Atlantic states and expanding later to the United States as a whole. President and Owner David Reavis, recognizing the current local conditions and growing market trends, seeks to initially produce a fine craft rye whiskey, bourbon, and an un-aged corn liquor and introduce the art and history of distilling to tourists traveling within and through Hampton Roads and along the Outer Banks of North Carolina as well as the regional residents. Three Brothers Whiskey’s mission is to reach back to this long heritage, and providing quality products incorporating that long and rich heritage to today’s and tomorrow’s market place.
Virginia has a long history of producing fine spirits that dates back to the days earliest days of American settlement at Jamestown. Indian maize was first turned in to liquor by an Episcopalian missionary, Captain George Tharpe, at a crude distillery set up at Berkeley Plantation. In the 1700’s, George Washington had one of the largest distilleries in America at his plantation at Mount Vernon. Currently there are eight craft distilleries operating in Virginia. Six of these are located in the western side of the state. The two distilleries located in the eastern half of Virginia are both focused on the distillation and bottling of Vodka as their primary product. One is located in Richmond, the second is located in Virginia Beach Va.
