McKinley Springs Winery

|
McKinley Springs is a small family-owned winery located south of Prosser, Washington in the Horse Heaven Hills. Our family takes great pride in caring for our vineyards. For over 25 years we have developed a reputation for growing high-quality grapes that have produced award-winning wines. In 2002, we started our own winery. Currently, we are specializing in Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, but look for more varietals in the near future. Our tasting room is open Thursday - Monday 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or by appointment. Please don't hesitate to call and schedule a private tasting and vineyard tour.

Cabernet Sauvignon
Our Cabernet Sauvignon grapes come from the first vines Andrews Horse Heaven Ranch planted in 1980. These 25 year old vines produce an intense flavor-filled grape that is extremely fun to work with. The wine from this grape is a big, bold Cabernet that shows black berries, chocolate, espresso beans with a hint of mint and spices. This well balanced wine has soft tannins that leave a nice long finish.

Heaven's Rewards
This late-harvest Chenin Blanc was fun to make. The grapes hung until November 22 and were harvested at 42 brix. I don't remember the temperature that day but it was below freezing and it was hard on our fingers when we loaded the press. The resulting wine was well worth it. This Chenin Blanc has 21 1/2% residual sugar. Apricot and pears will entice your nose and taste buds. Honey will slowly slide down your throat as you savor this desert wine.

Syrah
A combination of rich, dark berried fruit and co-fermentation with Viognier give the first impression of a slightly sweet wine, but on the finish you will see that this Syrah is a balanced wine that shows some coffee, meaty flavors and silky tannins that provide a long finish.
