Solena Estate

Solena Estate After successful careers in the Oregon wine industry, Laurent Montalieu and Danielle Andrus Montalieu have come together to create an exciting new family operated winery, Soléna Cellars. Soléna, the combination of two names that signify the sun and the moon, is the name that Laurent and Danielle, gave to their daughter. Soléna Cellars was first created as a way to explore winemaking with other varietals grown in the surrounding appellations while our Willamette Valley estate was planted in Pinot Noir. Today we are producing Pinot Noir from our estate vineyard Domaine Danielle Laurent in Yamhill, OR as well as Pinot Gris, Merlot, Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah from select vineyard sites in Oregon and Washington. Soléna Cellars first opened our doors in Carlton, Oregon in May of 2002. We hope you enjoy our wines as you celebrate life with family and friends.

  Del Rio Syrah
At first glance you notice the beautiful purple brilliance and clarity in the 2003 Del Rio Syrah, despite being unfined and unfiltered. It is a powerful wine with a big ample entrance and dark concentrated fruit. In the nose black cherry, tones of licorice, all spice, and plums are accompanied by inviting aromas of vanilla. The mouth is equally appealing with really dark fruit, well integrated tannins, mineral and slight mushroom tones. The tannins are broad and soft and linger for a long time. This wine is beautiful now, but will age for a long time to come.
  Domaine Danielle Laurent
From our Estate Vineyards, the 2003 Domaine Danielle Laurent is a very big wine with classical Pinot Noir characteristics. The wine has a striking ruby color which is a result of utilizing rotary barrels for primary fermentation. The nose delivers an array of scents including black cherry, cassis and well integrated oak. The toasty and licorice anise - like aromas are a prelude to the alluring multi dimensional palate. Deep black cherry flavors are enhanced by the finely integrated tannins in the wine. Layers of blackberry and black raspberry are surrounded by a hint of caramelly oak in the big lush finish. We are so pleased to see our hard work in the vineyard being displayed so predominately in this wine.
  Grande Cuvee Pinot Noir
This 2004 Grande Cuvee Pinot Noir is our best blend from four distinct vineyards in Oregon’s Willamette Valley. The wine is a deep ruby red color, a result of fermenting the grapes inside a barrel. The nose displays complex aromas of black raspberry, rhubarb and blueberry with floral hints of rose hips and a slightly vegetative component. The mouth feel is big and lush with bright berry flavors and well integrated tannins. The wine finishes bold and lengthy with a touch of earthiness and lingering caramel. The wine is enjoyable now but will age for 5 to 7 years.
  Klipsun Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
This is one of the biggest Klipsun Cabernets I have ever made. The wine is smooth, rich and polished with a pretty core of currant that is enhanced with flavors of tobacco and spice typical to the site. The flavors of dark fruit with some violet tone come out of the glass in a very powerful way. This full bodied wine has a very long lasting finish. Perhaps the best vintage of Klipsun vineyard, this wine is drinkable now but will improve with cellaring to 2010.
  Oregon Pinot Gris
The 2005 Oregon Pinot Gris captures the essence of this cool climate varietal. This is a fresh, crisp wine with bountiful fruit tones in the nose. Freshly cut pear and bright citrus aromas fill the glass. The mouthfeel is lush with grapefruit and starfruit components, a result of carefully blending fruit from Oregon's Rogue and Willamette Valleys. The intense fruit flavors of the wine lend viscosity to the structure and acidity of the mid-palate for a long-lasting finish. Enjoy this wine with spicy foods, Asian cuisine, or as an aperitif.
  Shea Vineyard Pinot Noir
A wonderful combination of red and black fruit profiles, the 2003 Shea Vineyard Pinot Noir is clean and fresh. The nose is slightly floral with dark red rose components. A masculine wine with hints of vanilla and earth. The mouthfeel is big and powerful, with alluring blue fruit flavors. There is an intriguing spice lingering behind the very upfront fruit. The wine is approachable now but will definitely improve with up to 10 years of cellaring.
  Wooldridge Creek Vineyard Merlot
The 2001 Merlot has an intense ruby color with masculine earthly tones and great expression of fruit. Spicy characteristics from the Zinfandel lead way to tones of dark cherry and cassis. The wine is silky and seductive with a long soft finish. The tannins are well integrated. This wine is enjoyable now but will improve with cellaring to 2011.
  Wooldridge Vineyard Zinfandel
The 2002 Zinfandel has a black cherry color with rusty brick undertones. The bright jammy flavors are intensified with red berry components. The wine has a fresh and spicy nose that leads way to elegant floral tones. The tannins are soft and well integrated. The small amount of Merlot blended into the wine softens and elongates the finish. This wine is drinkable now but will improve with cellaring to 2012.
