The valley floor experienced frost in April and a little rain in May; however, these months were followed by an exceptionally long, even ripening season. The long hang time allowed the aromas and tannins to fully ripen and we achieved great balance with the 2002 vintage. 65% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Cabernet Franc

Largely Cabernet Sauvignon with a small amount of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, Newton Vineyard Le Puzzle is an elegant, sensual Meritage blend. Filled with scents of black currant, figs, almonds and African violets, the mouth feel is rich, lingering and soft.

Newton Vineyard Naturally Fermented Chardonnay is a bright, refreshing wine. The nose gives off exotic fruits with hints of citrus. In the mouth, it is crisp and rich through the finish.

The 2003 vintage experienced an early bud break in spring; however, temperatures quickly cooled and remained low until late April. The heat turned up in May resulting in rapid growth. Temperatures cooled again during bloom, causing shatter to the vines. August saw a few exceptionally hot days and cold nights (70-75 F difference), and once again, ripening slowed. Harvest was two weeks late due to an early September rain. The mild season and extended hang time enabled us to extract wonderfully soft flavors with great balance.
