The concept was conceived at the Steinbeck Homebrew Festival where Mike Durrant (who goes by the handle HopFog) was approached by a blogger who included an article in her blog about his passion for brewing and where it was leading.....................

  Claret
The valley floor experienced frost in April and a little rain in May; however, these months were followed by an exceptionally long, even ripening season. Generally, the temperatures were mild during the day and cold at night with the exception of one brief heat spell at the end of September. The long hang time allowed the aromas and tannins to fully ripen and we achieved great balance with the 2002 vintage. 65% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Cabernet Franc
  Epic Merlot
Mostly Merlot with a touch of Cabernet Franc, any occasion becomes Epic with Newton Vineyard Epic Merlot. Cherries and currants, with layers of vanilla bean and wild honey, come through on the palate immediately. The aromas linger forever in the mouth.
  Epic Merlot
The 2001 vintage was characterized by an early spring with premature heat spikes. Temperatures in July normalized; however, the vines still experienced an early bloom. August cooled, ensuring cold nights and aromatic ripening, and small amounts of rain in September created an incentive for additional hang time. The wines are well concentrated with strong fruit, powerful tannins and a well protected acidity.
  Le Puzzle
Largely Cabernet Sauvignon with a small amount of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, Newton Vineyard Le Puzzle is an elegant, sensual Meritage blend. Filled with scents of black currant, figs, almonds and African violets, the mouth feel is rich, lingering and soft.
  Le Puzzle Cabernet Sauvignon
The 21st century in the Napa Valley began as a virtually perfect growing season with uneventful spring and summer weather patterns. Nighttime temperatures were quite cool and overall, the 2000 vintage ripening season was unhurried and provided fruit with balanced acidity and finesse.

  Red Label Chardonnay
Newton Vineyard Naturally Fermented Chardonnay is a bright, refreshing wine. The nose gives off exotic fruits with hints of citrus. In the mouth, it is crisp and rich through the finish.

  Unfiltered Cabernet Sauvignon
Largely Cabernet Sauvignon, with a bit of Merlot and Cabernet Franc for added depth of flavor, Newton Vineyard Unfiltered Cabernet Sauvignon is from the best lots on Spring Mountain. The nose exudes black currants, with layers of almond and spices, and the finish is round and long.
  Unfiltered Chardonnay
The 2003 vintage experienced an early bud break in spring; however, temperatures quickly cooled and remained low until late April. The heat turned up in May resulting in rapid growth. Temperatures cooled again during bloom, causing shatter to the vines. August saw a few exceptionally hot days and cold nights (70-75 F difference), and once again, ripening slowed. Harvest was two weeks late due to an early September rain. The mild season and extended hang time enabled us to extract wonderfully soft flavors with great balance.
