A distinguished Diamond Mountain District since 1990, the winery is nestled in the hills of Calistoga. von Strasser Winery produces wines full of mountain Cabernet intensity with the finesse of the finest Bordeaux. von Strasser is a family owned and operated boutique winery that offers private tours of the vineyard, by appointment only. Directions
From San Francisco International Airport:
Take 101-N towards San Francisco. Follow the signs to I-80 E - BAY BRIDGE/ OAKLAND/101N Merge onto I-80E. Cross the Bay Bridge, Follow the signs I-80E towards Sacramento. Approx 20 miles. Cross the Carquinez Bridge. (You will need $2.00 for Toll). Follow the directions as above. From Napa: Take Highway 29 through Yountville and St. Helena to Calistoga. Turn left off Highway 29 at Diamond Mountain Road (just past Twomey). Follow the road 7/10th of a mile. Look for the von Strasser sign on the right side of the road, bear to the right. Go through the blue gate. The office is the first building on the left (light Green building). From Sonoma: Take Hwy 12 W towards Santa Rosa. Turn right on Calistoga Road. Stay on Calistoga Road for about 12 miles (turns into Petrified Forest Road). The road dead ends. At three way stop, turn right onto Hwy 128 (Foothill Blvd). Continue to Diamond Mountain Road. Turn right and follow this road 7/10th of a mile. Look for the von Strasser sign on right side of road. Go through the blue gate on the right. The office is the first building on the left (light Green building).

Diamond Mountain District Cabernet Sauvignon
The 2002 Diamond Mountain District Cabernet Sauvignon is a great expression of Diamond Mountain as a whole. The Cabernet lots for this wine are blended from select distinctive vineyards, all within the Diamond Mountain AVA. Each individual vineyard, coming from different elevations and exposures throughout the mountain, adds its own distinct character. The lots are specifically chosen for their unique combination of concentration, bright fruit aromas and elegance.

Diamond Mountain District Rainin Vineyard Chardonnay
Our chardonnay comes from the Rainin Vineyard located in the Diamond Mountain District. The 2002 vintage continues the style which we have been pioneering since our first harvest of this vineyard in 1994; traditional winemaking techniques coupled with additional time in the barrel. The aromas are complex, hinting at hazelnut, toffee, butterssotch and tropical notes of pineapple and bananna.

Estate Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
The von Strasser Estate Vineyards are some of the earliest documented plantings in the Diamond Mountain AVA. dating back to the 1860's. The current vines were planted begining in 1969. Only the darkest most extracted lots are used in this signature Cabernet. The aromas of cassis, cocoa powder, vanilla and sarsaparilla are interwoven with flavors of black currant, dried plums and cherries and chocolate.

Monhoff Vineyard Zinfandel
This is our third vintage of Zinfandel from the Monhoff Vineyard and the only Zinfandel being produced in the Diamond Mountain District. This small 1.25 acre block
is currently the only commercial planting of Zinfandel in the AVA. Fruity and jammy in the nose; spicy aromas with a tremendously long finish.

Post Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
The Post vineyard is located adjacent to the von Strasser Estate, where it enjoys many of the same outstanding soil profiles and exposures. The vineyard was planted by von Strasser vineyards, who negotiated a 25-year lease on the property in 1992. It is 3 acres in size with 2.5 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon and 0.5 acres of Merlot.

Sori Bricco Vineyard Red Wine
The Sori Bricco Vineyard was planted in 1968 with equal proportions of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Each block is farmed harvested and fermented separately. The final blend is unique each year and highlights only the best lots of the vintage.The aromas are of coffee, black fruit, licorice, chocolate and eucalyptus. Very chewy and viscous on the palate with flavors of black raspberry and red cherry.

von Strasser Reserve
This Reserve bottling is made only in outstanding vintages, and represents the pinnacle of our enological and viticultural skills. This tiny blend of 44% Petit Verdot, 45% Cabernet and 11% Merlot is made from the best lots of the vintage. The aromas are cassis, blueberry, licorice, and Cuban tobacco, while the palate is dense, powerful, yet surprisingly well balanced and elegant.
