In 1962, David N Bower Sr. purchased Mayer’s Cider Mill Inc. in Rochester, NY, hoping to produce Apple Cider and Grape Juices reminiscent of his father’s that were produced on his family’s vineyard in Northern Pennsylvania when he was a child. Establishing a very successful business and a great reputation here in Rochester, David N Bower Sr. expanded his business to include the work of his sons, David N Bower Jr. and William Bower. They purchased the Hilton farm, bringing the apple cider, grape juice, fresh fruit, and fried cakes to the Hilton area with an ever growing reputation for excellence in all of their products.
Expanding into make-your-own wine and beer products, kits, supplies and on premise winemaking locations with the purchase of Vino Corporation in 1982 we have quickly grown into a wine staple here in Rochester, NY. Lake Ontario Winery and Vineyards was established in 2002 with 55 acres of vines from viniferous, to hybrid and Native American varieties producing and bottling all of our own wine. In 2005 we added our new Bistro and Dinner service. To this day we strive to maintain excellence in products and service consistent with our reputation. Look for our new expansion in 2012 with the International War of 1812 Peace Garden, Mayer’s Antique Apple Cidery, our new 6,000ft greenhouse and flower shop and the Lake Ontario Brewing Company.
