Vineyard 48
|
|
Vineyard 48 possesses some of the oldest vines on the North Fork of Long Island. Our exceptional vineyard sites benefit from the North Fork's ideal maritime growing conditions. Meticulous vineyard management and traditional winemaking allow us to realize the potential of these historic vineyard sites and bring you wines of uncompromising quality and elegance. As a child who spent many summers in Sicily, Joseph Pipia was able to experience first hand, the passion and dedication his parents and grandparents had for grape growing and wine making. Fourteen years after the death of his father, Joseph Pipia Sr. in 1990, Joseph and his mother Rose made the commitment to carry on the family tradition right here on the North Fork of Long Island. Located on 33 acres, Vineyard 48 was originally planted in 1982 and possesses some of the oldest vines on the North Fork. Vineyard 48’s site benefits from Long Island’s ideal maritime growing conditions. Meticulous management as well as traditional winemaking allows Vineyard 48 to offer wines of uncompromising quality and elegance. Just a few short years into their journey, with the help of their winemaker, Matthew Berenz, Vineyard 48 has already proven to be a favorite among the New York Food & Wine Classic, winning the Gold Medal for their 2002 Merlot and the Silver Medal for their 2003 Chardonnay.
