My great great great great - well we don't have all day... My grandfather was a captain of the Bell Ship in 1635 but before that we he was a little bit of a gambler and one day he won a Brewery in London... He took over the brewery and started to make some great beer... He eventually started to brew beer on the ships as he sailed on his ship, because the water wasn't safe to drink onboard most ships at that time so he made beer with the water... Eventually he was given the command of The Bell Ship which brought our founding fathers as we know them as pilgrims to America... He would go back and forth from Europe and America but finally settled down in Boston Massachusetts... My grandfather’s house is now a museum in Boston and you can go through it still today...
Now I have been to Boston and I did see my great grandfather’s house but I wasn't told the story about the Brewery until recently when I told my mom that I was going to start a Brewery... My mom has kept a secret from us and was a little embarrassed about him winning a brewery... She went into her room and got something out of her hope chest and sat me down on her bed... She said she wanted to give me something from my grandfather that meant a lot to her... It was a leather bound journal...
I opened it up and it was the original recipes that my grandfather used in the 1600's... and those same hand crafted recipes make up the flavor of Small Town Brewery.
