In the heart of Redwood Country, just a few miles east of Humboldt Bay is the small community formerly known in the 1800’s as ‘Wrangletown’. This former logging town with a population of 300 people and 7 saloons in its’ day, held the reputation for some wild times! According to local history, two strong-willed women from separate households were especially notorious for their very public disagreements that often resulted in brawling in the street. It has been said that a passing stagecoach driver named Foster publicly declared that the town should be named ‘Wrangletown’.
