Barra of Mendocino
|
|
Charlie Barra has been farming grapes in northern Mendocino County, Redwood Valley area, for 50 years. Yes, that makes him a "seasoned grape grower," and one of the best, at that. Charlie's family has a long ancestral history as growers of fine grapes, beginning in Europe, then migrating to California and Mendocino County at the turn of the century. In the 1950's, the Barra Family discovered that the Redwood Valley climate was ideal for growing excellent varietal grapes. All of the grapes used in the wines bearing the BARRA of Mendocino label are grown organically by Charlie at the home ranch, Redwood Valley Vineyards. (The vineyard is certified annually by California Certified Organic Farmers). Redwood Valley Vineyards grows 10 different varieties of grapes, so we have a wide selection from which to choose to add to our line of varietal wines we hope to offer in the future.
