Suhru Wines is a family owned and operated brand, which released its first vintage in 2009. All Suhru wine is produced on the North Fork of Long Island. Started by SUsan Hearn, with her husband RUssell as winemaker, the brand name and product have come to life.
Unlike long established wine labels, Suhru™ is unhampered by tradition and winemaker Russell Hearn creates young, innovative, and vibrant wines. Influenced by his international experience and three decades of winemaking on Long Island, Russell’s ideas showcase the unique characteristics of New York grapes.
Susan Hearn, owner, originally a Physical Therapist, developed an interest in wine after marrying her husband, Russell, who has been making wine for over 30 years. His interest in wine quickly grew into something they both enjoyed. The two have toured the wine regions of France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Australia, New Zealand, California, Virginia and New York, gathering knowledge and experience that is poured into every glass of Suhru Wines. Their joint love of wine, and Susan’s passion for wine has given rise to this new and exciting brand.
Suhru Wines produces five innovative new wines, which include a Shiraz and Shiraz Rose, drawing on winemaker Russell Hearn’s Australian background to produce the only Shiraz on Long Island. Suhru Wine aims to provide a fresh take on common wine varietals, resulting in easy to drink, fruit forward, exciting wines.
