Holly's Hill Vineyards
Holly's Hill is completely focused on producing Rhone varietal wines. In fact, the estate vineyards are composed entirely of Rhone varieties including Viognier, Roussanne, Grenache, Mourvedre, Syrah, and Counoise. The winery produces both varietal wines, a dry Rosé, and red and white blends. The enthusiasm for Rhone varieties at Holly's Hill started when Tom and Holly Cooper (owners) shared their first bottle of Chateauneuf du Pape on their honeymoon. It's been a love affair ever since. When the Coopers decided to plant their vineyard, it was an easy decision. Especially since the clones of Chateau de Beaucastel, one of the finest Chateauneuf houses, had recently become available. These new clones including Grenache from Chateau Rayas have proved to be much better than what was previously available in California.

California Le Vin Doux Viognier
A late harvest, fortified dessert wine styled after the "vin doux naturel" wines of the southern Rhone Valley, this sweet wine has apricot, almond, floral, and honey aromas. It has a full bodied creamy mouth feel with a vanilla nectar-like finish. Great with fruits, cheesecake, biscotti or as dessert itself.
El Dorado Cabernet - Syrah
Our Cabernet-Syrah has aromas of currants with a touch of blueberry. Eucalyptus, oak, green peppercorns and sweet spices round out the nose while the mouth enjoys a full body, silky tannins, and a long finish leaving you with a desire for more.
El Dorado Cabernet Sauvignon
Our Cabernet Sauvignon has aromas of cherries, oak, dried thyme, and truffles. It is full bodied with medium tannins and has a nice berry finish. The intense aromas and flavors of this wine compliment grilled meats and stews.
El Dorado Chardonnay
Red apple with hints of lemon zest, honey suckle, toasty oak, and creamy vanilla along with a pleasant mouth-feel and lingering, refreshing finish.
El Dorado Grenache
Intense aromas of strawberry jam and plums with underlying blackberry, spice and a hint of lavender. It's reminiscent of Cotes du Rhone with its hard to define fruit and garrigue like spice. The wonderful freshness and pleasant acidity/tannins will match well with foods. This is a lively Grenache perfect for both alfresco summer meals as well as more serious dining. We particularly like it paired with grilled salmon under a butter caper sauce.
El Dorado Grenache Rosé Traditionnel
86% Grenache, 14% Mourvèdre. This totally dry summer wine is loaded full of fresh fruit and floral aromatics. The cherries and strawberries with a hint of orange rind drink smoothly and easily for enjoying on those warm days. Drink with picnins, as an aperitif, with lightly spiced Mexican food, and fondue.
El Dorado Hill Top Syrah
This estate wine is a blend of east, south, and west slopes. Enjoy aromas of blackberries, leather, earth and spices like pepper and cumin. Once in your mouth the wine opens with full body, solid tannins and a smooth creamy finish. Drink this one with a nice thick cut of steak or a lovely Boeuf Bourguignon.
El Dorado Mourvedre
The El Dorado Mourvedre is 100% estate Mourvedre was aged in both neutral French oak barrels and puncheons. It has beautiful creamy notes of cherries and blueberries. Aromas of sage, and other piney spices mingle with earthy leathery qualities along with a pleasant varietal gaminess. The color is bright and dark more resembling a Syrah than a Mourvedre and is mouthfilling with a smooth finish. Have it with grilled foods and French fare like garlicy escargots, cheeses and especially paté.
El Dorado Patriarche
The Patriarche is a blend of only the highest quality estate Rhone wines of the vintage. The enthusiasm for this blend stems from the first tasting of a Cateauneuf du Pape shared by Holly and her husband, the family's patriarch, on their honeymoon. This vintage of Patriarche is big and concentrated with a meaty presence along with aromas of blueberries, blackberries and a hint of cherries. The wine is complex with oregano and black pepper spice, forest floor and creamy cocoa notes. It's full in the mouth with lasting tannins and a long fruit/cocoa finish. (45.2% Mourvedre, 36.8% Syrah, 13.9% Grenache, 4.1% Counoise)
El Dorado Tranquille
This classic blend hails from the South of France where wineries lining the Rhone River call their blend Cotes du Rhone. Notable red and black fruits, pepper, and Provençal herbs are the hallmark of these classic wines. This comparable rendition has a supple, velvety texture with aromas of strawberries and cherries reminiscent of candy. Spicy thyme aromas and white pepper make the velvety tannins very enjoyable. Drink this wine in the next couple years while it's young and fresh. We like it with lamb, pastas, and …ok…everything.
(54%Grenache, 38%Mourvedre, 8% Syrah)
El Dorado Wylie-Fenaughty Syrah
This Syrah has a beautiful bright color with aromas of raspberries, blackberry jam, and blueberries. There is also a smokiness that intermingles with dried chilis, cool eucalyptus and dried oregano. The wine is easy drinking but not light as it has smooth, refined tannins.
El Dorado Zinfandel
Aromas of plums and cranberries with bay leaf, almond and a hint of black pepper. Zippy acidity and flavors of dark berries and toasty oak greet you in the mouth. The palate is completed by smooth Madagascar vanilla for a lingering finish.
Patriarche Blanc
Aromas of tangerine and lemon open nicely to pear and melon. Medium palate. Refreshing clean mouth-feel with a crisp finish. Very food friendly. (72%Roussanne 28%Viognier)
Sierra Foothills Sangiovese
Sangiovese is the main variety produced in Italy's Chianti region. This wine's earthy aromas give way to strawberries and cherries along with white pepper, dried thyme, curry spices, cedar and coffee. In the mouth, smooth tannins and a clean finish whet one's appetite. This Sangiovese serves as a great pre-dinner wine and transitions to support a meal ranging from scallops or grilled meats to dishes with red sauces like lasagna.
