It’s about the journey… In his book Sacred Hoops: Spiritual Lessons of a Hardwood Warrior, coaching legend Phil Jackson- owner of 11 NBA championship rings-quoted Ursula Leguin in recounting the trials and tribulations of his first professional job coaching the Albany Patroons of the CBA; “It is good to have an end to journey toward; but it is the journey that matters, in the end.” Navigating the twists and turns of America’s highways and byways invites discovery and experience that is sometimes earned and always learned. This discovery along the way is an allegory for life and a reward not likely realized if the journey isn’t undertaken to begin with. Occasionally we all need to take a break from our journey, or perhaps add to it by simply having a beer.
