Viandel Vineyard
The farmstead that is Viandel Vineyard was once an apple orchard and local market. Owner’s Jon and Cathy Smith began restoring with a vision of never retiring, but to stay forever young “at heart”. So, they set out to develop a sophisticated winery, comfortable farmhouse tasting room, and efficient office space. The Viandel Vineyard philosophy is to find a balance between vineyard production and environmental impact, while producing premium contemporary wines.
Opening weekend will be a celebration of the vineyard’s namesake, Viandel “Spider” Smith, Jon’s father, born August 24, 1910 in Eminence, Missouri. Himself a pioneer in ecologically friendly tree farming, Spider set the bar for joy for life and entrepreneurial spirit. So, armed with rich family traditions for hard work, community awareness, and joy de vivre Jon and Cathy have created a destination that will realize enjoyment for generations to come.
