Ridge Runner Farm and Brewing Co.

The Shenandoah Valley has been farmed for centuries. When the first Europeans appeared in the late 1600s, they discovered "old fields" along the winding banks of the Shenandoah River that had long been cultivated by Native Americans. As more settlers arrived, many of them German, they cleared the land for wheat and pasture. Shortly thereafter, the tumbling waters of local streams were harnessed by millers for grinding grain. This led to the Valley being known during the Civil War as "the Breadbasket of the Confederacy." One can only assume that beer was also a major product of those early ridge runners.
Today, our mission is to draw upon the agricultural tradition and rich history of the Shenandoah Valley to brew beer and cultivate the land we call home. A lot of what we grow will find its way into your glass and that which does not will stock the shelves of our farm market! We hope to feed your passion for locally-sourced food and drink with our passion for good beer and all-natural farming.
