Nestled on the Eastern flank of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia’s Piedmont, halfway between North Carolina and West Virginia is Nelson County. Most of the original land grant families of Nelson County were of Scottish heritage and these immigrant Scots were among the first to develop the unique taste of American whisky. The particular site Brian found there, Eades Hollow, had the necessary slope and grade and abundant fresh, sweet water required in distilling operations. In many ways it resembled the mid-section of Scotland with steeply sloped, small mountains. The 95 acre property had a certain intangible quality - it looked and felt like the perfect place to make the ideal American whisky.

The Virginia Distillery Company is located on US 29 near Lovingston, Virginia. We are 30 minutes south of Charlottesville and the same distance north of Lynchburg, and convenient to the Wintergreen Resort.
