Grindhaus Brew Lab was hatched by Robb Larson and Lisa Colburn. Robb & Lisa have an extensive history in craft beer, dating back to when Robb got his start homebrewing in college in the 1990’s. After meeting, & a brief brewing hiatus while moving to Florida, they bought a house & resumed homebrewing. Soon after Robb was featured in a Creative Loafing story about homebrewing by Taylor Eason, then was asked to take on the role as beer blogger for TaylorEason.com. About that same time he introduced a friend to his homebrews, which inspired his friend to open a large production brewery in Tampa. Robb spent the next couple of years there as the Small Batch/Pilot Brewer & Director of Beer Development, while getting his Siebel certifications in Sensory Panel Management, Master of Beer Styles, & Professional Beer Styles & Tasting. Meanwhile, Lisa was starting up the Bay Area Barley’s Angels, a craft beer education group for women, publishing the Craft Beer Tasting Journal (available on Amazon), & getting her Cicerone Certified Beer Server.
