Vision Cellars

I was born the son of a Texas Moonshine maker. My Father, Sue, was considered by many to be the finest Moonshine maker in all of Texas, because of the fine grains he used to make his corn whiskey. My Mother Elbessie, along with her brothers and sister, made wine from the various fruits we grew. Even though I grew up around distilled spirits and fruit wines, I did not develop a taste for either. It was not until I tasted my first Burgundy, long about 1955, that I fell in love with fine wine. In that year, I happened upon a taste of 1952 Burgundy, and vowed to myself then and there that I would someday aspire to make a wine as fine as that. Years later, after tasting Pinot Noir from the world over and following several trips to Burgundy France, my wife Lil and I purchased the best fruit available to us and my personal vision to become a winemaker was realized, with our first bottling of our 1997 Pinot Noir…so named “Vision Cellars”. My sincere wish is that you enjoy this wine and while sharing it with others you will appreciate my “Vision”… Wine Regards, Mac

Pinot Noir Chileno Valley Vineyard Marin County
Hints of toast and smoke. Aromas of cherry with layers of berry in the mouth and finishing with wild cherry and a note of pomegranate.

Pinot Noir Esterlina Vineyard Cole Ranch Mendocino
Folks, this is a beauty. Full of fresh berry and cherry from start to finish. Three bottle limit. The Cole Ranch AVA is California’s smallest appellation. This isolated viticultural area of less than one quarter square mile sits between the Russian River and Anderson Valley in Mendocino County. Here a mere sixty acres of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Riesling vines are found tucked into the high hills ranging from 1,400-1,600 feet in elevation. There are no resident wineries within the appellation itself, but the quality of Cole Ranch fruit has seen the trucks of several highly-regarded wineries making their way up to the remote little valley to purchased grapes and make wines with the Cole Ranch AVA designation. Today, the Sterling family, proprietors of the Esterlina Winery -- located at the western end of Anderson Valley -- owns the entire vineyard acreage of the appellation. Esterlina transports its Cole Ranch fruit down the road to be processed at their winery in Philo.

Pinot Noir Sonoma County
Ripe cherry with light hints of mocha on the nose. It’s pure blueberry and plum from start to finish. We think this maybe our best Sonoma ever.
